Another ThreeTuneTuesday
I seem to always get Tuesdays mixed up and then am trying desperately to put in the weekly #TTT (aka #ThreeTuneTuesday) challenge created by @ablaze. As usual I thank the challenge for forcing me to write a post a week :)

This week I decided to go in a very normal and popular path and rather than introducing you to new music I want to reintroduce you to some classics. Many classics fall by the wayside thanks to over exposure, especially when they are standards and hence anyone with even a little understanding of the genre ends up marking it as they are favorite. While these things happen they don't take away from the fantastic quality of the songs themselves.
This line of thought was kicked of by the grand Classic Rock Bracket knockout happening over on twitter ideated and implemented by the twitter user MrNarci with help of two other users. It has been a fun ride as we are slowly moving from 512 songs down to one. Made me think of a lot of interesting famous punk songs that I was introduced to late in life.
Rebel Against Authority
I got into rock, especially hard rock quite late in my youth. Before joining college Michael Jackson and George Michaels for Rock to me. I did know and love both Beatles and Elvis but none of the others. So you can appreciate how late I heard punk. Getting into rock moving up the groups and finally ending up with PinkFloyd on the rock side and Iron Maiden on the metal side I could not think of anything that punk could offer. Till I heard this rocking number. I heard it for the first time when I had started working and it blew my mind.
The song is God Save The Queen by The Sex Pistols
I love the impact of the lyrics!!!
My fav from their discography is of course Anarchy in the UK but God save the Queen really scandalized me the first time I heard it :)
Rebel Against the World
It was just a bit of time before I got sucked into more of the UK punk scene of the 1970's. If there is one song I find to be the best of that era, signifying a punk ethos with a lot of musicality it is London Calling by The Clash Great song great message. Perfect for a young kid out in the world wanting to fight it all :)
I love that bassline. Need to play it one of these days. @steevc interested in making some punk stuff ;)
Rebel, just Rebel
Across the Atlantic I found my people !!! The one song that I did play live with a devil may care attitude being as punk as I could :) That song, my dear readers, is Blitzkrieg Bop by The Ramones I heard them much much later in life, almost past my 30th birthday. And yet I love it so. I guess I am sill a punk at heart :D
NO, don't check your settings --- you are not listening at 2x speed. It is that fast. So fast he is say Brrrezzbop :D
And yes I do find it musical...
Bonus
I must admit that thought I found a lot of the classic punk groups very interesting I ended up following other genres more and never really got into contemporary punk or modern punk. When I joined the greatest guitar online group of all time #SixStringBliss I got introduced to some interesting punk groups who were again quite good musically. The one I really liked was a favorite of one of the co-presenters of the SixStringBliss podcast. The band was Social Distortion and the song was 99 to life
While it is punk to the core (including the lifestyle - they have a great documentary like movie about their travails which are interesting to watch) with a general disdain for popular things, they do take some heavy influence from country and blue grass. When I hear them it feels like Johnny Cash playing Punk. They did do some of his covers too.
This is an audio track cause all the video ones I found had bad audio.
So hope you are all are rocking now and have a pleasant week again. Thanks once again to @ablaze and all the other #TTT bloggers. Thanks to all of them we have some good music to listen to all week long :)
