Muy bien, ya con esta sería la tercera y (tal vez) última de las canciones del álbum Master of Puppets de Metallica que me dedicaría a analizar por ahora. Con esta estoy cubriendo las canciones que realmente me terminaron por enganchar a esta banda y posiblemente, al género del Metal (o en este caso, thrash-metal).
No quiero decir que estas sean las mejores piezas del álbum o las únicas que me gustaron, pero sí que son las que me dejaron realmente convencido de que mis prejuicios me habían mantenido demasiado tiempo lejos de un género tan chévere e interesante.

ENGLISH
Alright, this would be the third and (maybe) last song from Metallica's Master of Puppets album that I would dedicate to analyze for now. With this one I'm covering the songs that really got me hooked on this band and possibly, on the Metal (or in this case, thrash-metal) genre.
I don't want to say that these are the best pieces of the album or the only ones I liked, but they are the ones that really convinced me that my prejudices had kept me too long away from such a cool and interesting genre.

OTRA INTRO GENIAL
Esta ya es la tercera y la vencida. Estoy convencido de que Metallica hace intros muy geniales. Lo mismo que con The Thing That Should Not Be y Orion, el arreglo musical nos introduce en el mundo del protagonista (porque ya saben, Metallica escribe historias más que canciones), haciéndonos partícipes de la narrativa.
Un motivo que consiste en un golpe de la guitarra en la cuerda Mi (6) seguido de dos armónicos en las cuerdas Mi (1) y Si (2). En cada repetición, el motivo está acompañado de apogiaturas y otros adornos.
Pero centrémonos en el motivo principal. Este podría significar varias cosas. Lo primero que me pareció al escucharlo fue el golpe de una puerta (o una celda) al cerrarse con el movimiento de las llaves o el mecanismo de seguridad colocándose al final. Pero también, cuando aumenta la velocidad, me hizo recordar el sonar de un reloj cucú al dar la alarma, analogía usada frecuentemente para describir locura o deficiencia mental.
ANOTHER COOL INTRO
This is the third and the last one. I'm convinced that Metallica makes very cool intros. The same as with The Thing That Should Not Be and Orion, the musical arrangement introduces us into the world of the protagonist (because you know, Metallica writes stories more than songs), making us part of the narrative.
A motif consisting of a guitar hit on the E string (6) followed by two harmonics on the E (1) and B (2) strings. In each repetition, the motif is accompanied by apogiaturas and other ornaments.
But let's focus on the main motive. This one could mean several things. The first thing that struck me when I heard it was the banging of a door (or a cell) as it closes with the movement of the keys or the security mechanism being placed at the end. But also, as the speed increases, it reminded me of the sound of a cuckoo clock going off, an analogy often used to describe insanity or mental deficiency.

Todos sabemos que esta pieza va sobre el encierro en una institución mental y las “injusticias” o tormentos que pueden llegar a sentir los pacientes que habitan en ella. Inspirada en un par de libros que van sobre el tema (y que definitivamente se van a mi lista de lectura), los versos dan lugar a un monólogo en donde un interno describe las características de su “prisión” y de cómo en su estadía allí quieren convencerlo de estar loco (en el caso de no estarlo) o de cómo los tratos terminan por empeorar su condición.
Por lo que esta intro le viene como anillo al dedo. Una increíble demostración de genialidad al lograr utilizar un mismo motivo para representar dos ideas relacionadas con el punto principal de toda la historia, estar encerrado en un sanatorio.
We all know that this piece is about confinement in a mental institution and the "injustices" or torments that the patients who inhabit it may feel. Inspired by a couple of books on the subject (which are definitely going on my reading list), the verses give way to a monologue in which an inmate describes the characteristics of his "prison" and how during his stay there some wants to convince him of being crazy (if he is not) or how the treatment ends up worsening his condition.
So this intro fits it like a glove. An incredible demonstration of genius to use the same motif to represent two ideas related to the main point of the whole story, being locked up in an sanitarium.
BIEN COMPUESTA, BIEN PRODUCIDA
Esta pieza está escrita en un estilo más del tipo balada con diferencias métricas, al menos en la mayoría de la composición. Los que nos lleva al siguiente punto. Si nos fijamos, la métrica de la música cambia entre las estrofas y los coros.
En las primeras, la música alterna entre un compás simple (4/4) y uno compuesto (6/4), mientras que los coros son solo simples.
Para quienes se preguntan qué significa esto, no desesperen…
A lo que me refiero es a los acentos, principalmente. Para que se entienda, intentemos lo siguiente:
Cuenta en series del 1 al 4, intenta hacerlo con una velocidad estable, ni tan lento ni tan rápido.
Ejemplo:
1, 2, 3, 4. 1, 2, 3, 4. 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.Aplaude cada vez que digas 1.
WELL COMPOSED, WELL PRODUCED
This piece is written in a more ballad-like style with metric differences, at least in most of the composition. Which brings us to the next point. If you notice, the metric of the music changes between the verses and the choruses. In the former, the music alternates between a simple time signature (4/4) and a compound one (6/4), while the choruses are only simple.
For those who are wondering what this means, don't despair....
What I am referring to the accents, mainly. To make it clear, let's try the following:
Count in series from 1 to 4, try to do it with a steady speed, not so slow and not so fast.
Example:
1, 2, 3, 4. 1, 2, 3, 4. 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.Clap your hands each time you say 1.

If you got it right, you will be doing the accent of a simple measure. Now let's go with the compound.

¿Ves la diferencia? Aquí tenemos dos acentos, el primero llamado fuerte y el segundo llamado débil.
Ahora, lo que sucede en esta canción es un poco más complejo o divertido, de hecho. Veamos:

Now, what happens in this song is a bit more complex or funny, actually. Let's see:

Pasar de un compás simple a uno complejo, dota a la pieza de cierta sensación de inestabilidad. Lo que tiene sentido, si el monólogo sucede en la cabeza de un paciente de manicomio. Es inestable, no está bien, está… En su propio mundo…
A esto le sumamos el hecho de que con el uso del delay se ha obtenido un efecto de eco durante toda la canción. Que ayuda a aumentar la sensación de estar encerrado.
Genial, ¿no?
Going from simple to complex time signatures gives the piece a certain sense of instability. Which makes sense, if the monologue takes place in the head of an insane asylum patient. He is unstable, he is not well, he is... In his own world....
Add to this the fact that with the use of delay, an echo effect has been obtained throughout the song. Which helps to increase the feeling of being locked in.

Este post se trata de música y la música puede ayudar a representar ciertas sensaciones, las cuales pueden estar relacionadas con diferentes ideas, historias y sentimientos. Por lo que un mismo sentimiento puede estar relacionado con distintas vivencias o recuerdos. Por ejemplo, la desesperante sensación al estar encerrado en un manicomio, en la cárcel o en nuestra propia casa.
Así que déjenme decir esto de la manera más simple y clara posible.
El COVID existe. Su capacidad de producir la muerte, también. Sin embargo, este está muy lejos de ser la “peor pandemia o enfermedad en la historia de la humanidad”. Nos enfrentamos antes y aún hoy a cosas mucho peores. Y esto teniendo en cuenta y tomando por ciertos todos los datos suministrados en cuanto a contagios y muertes por los emisarios del apocalipsis (OMS, por ejemplo). Sin la necesidad de someter a la población a la destrucción de su vida social, el aislamiento, los experimentos involuntarios y la estigmatización de estar enfermos.
Por lo que casi todas las medidas aconsejadas por los principales organismos de la salud y adoptadas, a veces de forma despótica (Venezuela), por los gobiernos, no son eficientes, son contradictorias y, por lo tanto, contraproducentes.
Entre ellas, el asunto de las cuarentenas a personas sanas, uso de tapabocas incluso en lugares ventilados y expuestos al sol, la aplicación de vacunas EXPERIMENTALES de forma obligatoria (en algunos países) de toda la población, son de los actos de negligencia, abuso de poder y violación de derechos humanos más vergonzosos e inmorales de nuestra historia moderna.
This post is about music and music can help to represent certain sensations, which can be related to different ideas, stories and feelings. So the same feeling can be related to different experiences or memories. For example, the desperate feeling of being locked up in an asylum, in jail or in our own home.
So let me say this as simply and clearly as possible.
COVID exists. Its ability to produce death, too. However, it is far from being the "worst pandemic or disease in the history of mankind". We have faced much worse things before and even today. And this taking into account and taking for certain all the data provided in terms of contagions and deaths by the emissaries of the apocalypse (WHO, for example). Without the need to subject the population to the destruction of their social life, isolation, involuntary experiments and the stigmatization of being sick.
So almost all the measures advised by the main health agencies and adopted, sometimes despotically (Venezuela), by governments, are inefficient, contradictory and, therefore, counterproductive.
Among them, the issue of quarantines to healthy people, the use of masks even in ventilated places and exposed to the sun, the application of mandatory EXPERIMENTAL vaccines (in some countries) of the entire population, are some of the most shameful and immoral acts of negligence, abuse of power and violation of human rights in our modern history.

Welcome Home (Sanitarium), habla sobre la soberbia de aquellos quienes aseguran tener en sus manos la capacidad de resolver nuestra situación. De ser solo ellos y no cualquiera de nosotros, quienes pueden ver la realidad tal y cuál es, pues nosotros somos los dementes, los enfermos, los incapaces. De arrebatarnos la posibilidad de usar el sentido común, de discernir, de cuestionar. Y de sufrir en consecuencia los perjuicios de sus equivocaciones.
Dicho esto, da igual lo que pienses con respecto a esta situación. Puedes estar de acuerdo o no con lo que yo creo. Pero nadie debería estar de acuerdo en que se cercene la capacidad de emitir una opinión distinta, de que se etiquete de “hereje” o “potencialmente peligroso” a quienes ponen en cuestión a la autoridad, que se silencie a todo al que no le cuadren los números… Porque ciertamente, yo podría estar equivocado. Pero ellos también. Y establecer por la fuerza un pensamiento único, sólo nos reducirá las posibilidades de encontrar la verdad.
A mí me llena de frustración. Y me siento identificado con esta canción por este motivo. Aunque no hable literalmente de esto o que sus autores puedan tener una opinión totalmente opuesta a la mía.
Por eso agradezco el poder tener la fortuna de expresar estas ideas aquí, en Hive. Sé que no podrán eliminar mi contenido solo por estar en desacuerdo conmigo y eso me tranquiliza. Sé que podrían darme downvote y reducir cualquier tipo de beneficio por este post, pero eso me alegra. Me alegra porque simplemente es la manifestación sin restricciones y libre de estar en desacuerdo con mis ideas, me alegra porque sé que proviene de alguien como yo y no de un administrador o institución reguladora de pensamientos. Welcome Home (Sanitarium), talks about the arrogance of those who claim to have in their hands the ability to solve our situation.
