Greetings again!
It took a while, as I had two hectic weeks (in a good way thankfully, but still hectic), followed by a trip to Athens that I am in the middle of but here it is at last! The next part of my participation in the Bass Challenge by Scott's Bass Lessons!
The winner will receive Scott's own Sadowsky NYC Deluxe 4-21 Satin Series bass!
The pieces of the challenge are copyrighted by Scott's Bass Lessons, but I have asked and it is ok to publicly show my videos and thoughts about the songs. Linking the Challenge or the song's path won't work as they are part of the membership of the Academy, so anyone interested can go to the link of their homepage and explore it!
I decided that I will combine it with one hour practice at least and I was home alone, so no one in house to bother me and to bother!
I am uploading three videos, that were taken three days apart. Each has its own pros and cons. The first one has less flaws but I am looking all the time at the fret and in the other one I manage not to look neither on the fret nor at the sheet for a few moments, but I lose some parts and I have more tense. On the third one I compromised a little on looking at the fret/ sheet and not losing it and found some balance.
ACHIEVEMENTS
- Flying finger - I feel it a little better but still have a long road to solve it
- Learnt the melody by heart
GOALS
- Better sound and landing on the correct point of the fret. Lost it a little because I am paying attention to the flying fingers.
- Achieve groove just to the point, perfect, no mistakes. Also lost because I am paying attention to the flying fingers.
- Experiment with slides and tremble
- Not looking at the fret & up and still not losing any groove or notes/ clarity
- Stick to my choice on what fingers to use on each fret for the same melody parts. Sometimes I land on different ones depending on what is more convenient.
- Better muting
- Not so harsh playing on some notes. At times I can hear something like a "click". I don't know if it is my idea or due to not turning up the volume more (I try not to disturb the neighbors), your feedback and opinion is very welcome here too. I would like to have more flow.
- Return quicker when my attention escapes and my mind goes away.. Hey dude, get off planet Travelator, we're on Exterminator now, get a grip!
The following goals remain from the previous time:
- Play a little louder and with dynamics/ feeling
- Play this standing instead of sitting on the chair
Until the next one, cheers to all!
