@JasperDick and I honour original artists when we do throw a cover into our set by wearing the cover hat (please note the giant laundry basket of cover hats on the stage). We like to make it very clear to the audience, that the song we're performing is not our own, as well as to show honour and pay homage to the original artist.
This song, however, I think needed very little, if any introduction.
Zombie by the Cranberries is one of the most infamous antiwar songs of our generation, right up there with Sunday Bloody Sunday (which I also hope we'll cover one day soon).
The late Dolores O'Riordan, who was the lead singer of the Cranberries, was an incredibly unique singer, who is almost impossible to cover. With her own natural emotional vocal overdrive, she still elicits goosebumps, tears and huge emotion every time we hear her voice.
Special thanks to Bill Knight and The Cottage Club Performing arts venue for being our gracious hosts and to our incredible audience, who's participation in this one was super freaking awesome!!!!!
