Hola amigos || Hello friends
En esta ocasión quiero conversar un poco de mí y cómo fue mi transformación como diría Jack Black, a la escuela del rock. En ciertas ocasiones les he comentado que tengo un tío bastante amante del rock y que presentó innumerables bandas pero aun ese espíritu liberal de un adolescente no aparecía. Etapa donde muchos padres tienen la responsabilidad de enfrentar uno de los cambios más duro de un ser humano. Es la etapa donde marcamos lo que queremos ser en un futuro, nuestros gustos y aficiones.
On this occasion I want to talk a little about me and how was my transformation, as Jack Black would say, to the school of rock. On certain occasions I have told you that I have an uncle who loves rock and that he introduced countless bands but even that liberal spirit of a teenager did not appear. This is the stage where many parents have the responsibility to face one of the hardest changes of a human being. It is the stage where we mark what we want to be in the future, our tastes and hobbies.
Ciertamente tuve una gran influencia musical en casa. Sobre todo cuando apenas me asomaba a esa importante puerta de vida. La escuela tuvo mucho que ver con ese cambio de niño inocente a ser un adolescente un poco rebelde. Más aún cuando había alguna chica por el medio. O sea, alguna compañera de escuela que me atrajera. Aunque al final casi siempre todo era fallido, no conseguía tener la atención de ella ja ja ja... Cosas de la vida.
I certainly had a great musical influence at home. Especially when I was just peeking through that important door of life. School had a lot to do with that change from an innocent child to a somewhat rebellious teenager. Even more so when there was a girl in the middle. That is, some schoolmate that attracted me. Although in the end it was almost always a failure, I couldn't get her attention ha ha ha ha.... Things of life.
Tenía unos 14 años cuando desperté ese ámbito de ir a fiestas y hacer acto de presencia en los famosos toques de bandas de rock en la ciudad. Mi hermana me presentó uno de los amigos de ella el cual era vocalista de una de las bandas de rock. Esa misma noche me hicieron sentir aceptado en su grupo de amigos y empezaron a cambiar las cosas. Fue el rock lo que encontré al abrir aquella puerta.

I was about 14 years old when I woke up that area of going to parties and making an appearance at the famous rock band shows in town. My sister introduced me to one of her friends who was the lead singer of one of the rock bands. That very night they made me feel accepted into their group of friends and things started to change. It was rock that I found when I opened that door.
En esa época la cadena televisiva de Mtv cubría una época musical bastante interesante con una mezcla de rock y pop bastante buenos. Nada que ver con lo de ahora. Recuerdo claramente que en aquella etapa por la que pasaba empecé a escuchar Korn, Pantera, Deftones, entre otras. Como cualquier persona tenía mis canciones favoritas y sobre todo videos que era lo que la cadena televisiva de Mtv transmitía. Como olvidar aquel Top 100 donde se colocaban grandes bandas del rock de la época. Bandas como, por ejemplo: Oasis, Matallica, U2, quien no recuerda No doubt con su clásico Don't speak. O el mismísimo Marilyn Manson el cual fue por mucho tiempo uno de mis artistas favoritos. Sí, de seguro dirán, este estaba loco ja ja ja... Ahora canta puro despecho ja ja ja... Pero sí, este era yo con 14 años de edad.
At that time the Mtv television network was covering a pretty interesting musical era with a mix of pretty good rock and pop. Nothing to do with today. Si sigo escribiendo haré un libro y no es lo que deseamos. Así que vayamos al grano y vacilemos un poco del rock de los 90s. Aquí compartiré algunas canciones que aún hoy considero mis favoritas de aquellas grandes bandas. Comencemos con:

Esta era sin duda una canción que impulsaba aquella rebeldía. Como no recordar este excelente tema, aquellos tambores al inicio y las guitarras rasgadas y distorsionadas como con rabia, con actitud totalmente diabólica. Digno de un personaje como lo fue Marilyn Manson. The Beautiful People es uno más de los himnos del rock.
This was undoubtedly a song that drove that rebelliousness. How not to remember this excellent song, those drums at the beginning and the ripped and distorted guitars with rage, with a totally diabolic attitude. Worthy of a character like Marilyn Manson. The Beautiful People is one more of the rock anthems.
Otra canción que me acompaño muchísimo y en donde me sentía identificado por la melodía, por el trabajo musical de la banda. No era fácil conseguir algo como ellos, son únicos que este género, muy originales. Cuando escuchaba My Own Summer es como entrar en un viaje emocional, de enfrentarme a mis miedos, de decir basta. Todavía hoy me parece super interesante la propuesta musical que lograron presentar. Hoy recordando estas canciones sinceramente me siento algo sentimental.
Another song that accompanied me a lot and where I felt identified by the melody, by the musical work of the band. It was not easy to get something like them, they are unique in this genre, very original. When I listened to My Own Summer it was like going on an emotional journey, of facing my fears, of saying enough is enough. Still today I find the musical proposal they managed to present very interesting. Today remembering these songs I sincerely feel a bit sentimental.
Tuve la dicha de escuchar esta banda en Venezuela cuando logró venir al Caracas pop Festival de 2002 y debo acotar que cuando arrancan justamente con esta canción, fue como una huella imborrable para mí. “Are you ready?” es uno de las frases más representativas no solo de Korn, sino del nu-metal en general. Y yo escuchaba en ese momento a la banda del momento. Toda una experiencia ya que me fui sin autorización de mis padres al concierto. En pocas palabras, me fugué de casa. En ese momento la adrenalina corría a mil pero ahora que soy un poco más maduro veo la poca conciencia que tenía. Ya lo pasado es pasado.
