I woke up with emotions running high, maybe it's because of the late night, I have my eyes peeled. Because of the iguanas that sabotage the company that provides electricity service in my country. With my mind idle, I evoked my anecdotes, occurrences of when I entered my adolescence. My brothers and my mommy were crazy. They wouldn't let me breathe. In the 70's, I started receiving invitations to quinceañeras. My friends and neighbors were older than me.
But it wasn't just me, it was the same with my friends, we went back and forth. The only thing missing was the priest's permission at Sunday mass. I was only 13 years old when my friend and comadre Flor turned fifteen. I still remember the party at the Lions Club, the best of that time in my city. You had to get space months in advance. As we Venezuelans say: "una fiesta a todo dar".
I still don't know why there was so much fuss if I was invited to a party, to the movies or to the beach. Even if I wanted to go to Christmas Eve masses, I had to ask permission from the whole troop. If they gave me permission, I had to take my little sister.
At least I was allowed to go out with my siblings. The adults of that time had a very closed mentality. For them women were impregnated with a smile and by holding hands. I always liked to be independent and boys for me restricted my freedom. Just imagining that my older brother would find out and lock me in the house. I avoided the "sticky stuff".
After I became an adult, when I reached twenty-eight, Mommy started with the nagging and nagging:
Mija, you're becoming an old maid! Your younger sister is already married. She couldn't believe it, she didn't understand anything anymore. Now she was really worried. But, I continued with my light and carefree life. Getting married was not my priority, I always liked to travel and with my roommates I visited many towns.
In my group of friends we all liked music. Among them, there was a singer who liked to sing English songs. Eduardo has a beautiful voice. I saw him two years ago and he was just as funny as when we were young. We share the same tastes, we go out to the beach and to the movies. I mean, everywhere. There was camaraderie, smiles and a lot of friendship.
In the 70's, bands, groups and singers that today are listened to and their melodies are very famous. Among them: ABBA, Chicago, Earth, Wind & Fire, Aerosmith, Peter Frampton, Billy Joel, Commodores, Barry White, Kansas, among others. When I was a third year student, we would sneak off to the house of a classmate who lived nearby to listen to music. On weekends, in the afternoons, Eduardo would arrive with his guitar and we would all gather around him to listen to the songs.
I think they were the only songs I knew. Oh la la. Eduardo is bilingual and has a nice voice. His favorites at the time were Billy Joel, Peter Frampton, Chicago. Stevie Wonder, and others he doesn't remember now. I see him there and we are trying to hum along. Ha, ha, ha, ha. total madness! Today I'm bringing them to participate in #ThreeTunesTuesday with friend @ablaze.

Music is the companion of human beings, I consider that all times have been good and the generations that lived them are the ones that make the difference. Especially in adolescence, which is when we open our eyes to the world and begin to have friends and more than friends. The selected melody is a ballad to desperate love. It was a hit that, even today, wherever it is played, makes us young people of that time sigh. Among which I include myself, screaming with emotion.

One of my favorite melodies of the group Chicago, I leave it to you as a Venezuelan ñapita, is "Hard to Say I'm Sorry". This tune was released in 1982. The video I bring you is for you to see that age has nothing to do with the will to live nor is it a disability. In 2017 Chicago performed at the Villa del Mar Festival in Chile, and Peter Cetera, showed that he still has a voice and love for his fans.

Amanecí con las emociones a flor de piel, quizás es por la trasnochada, ando con los ojos pelaos. Por culpa de las iguanas que sabotean a la empresa que presta el servicio eléctrico en mi país. Con la mente ociosa, evoque mis anécdotas, ocurrencias de cuando entre a mi adolescencia. Mis hermanos y mi mami, estaban locos. No me dejaban respirar. En los años 70, comencé a recibir invitaciones a quince años. Mis amigas y vecinas eran mayores que yo.
Pero solo no me pasaba a mí, con mis amiguis es igual, andábamos de aquí para allá. Solo faltaba el permiso del sacerdote en la misa dominical. Apenas tenía 13 años cuando mi amiga y comadre Flor, cumplió quince años. Todavía recuerdo la fiesta en el Club de Leones, lo mejor de esta época en mi ciudad. Conseguir espacio había que hacerlo con meses de anticipación. Como decimos los venezolanos: “una fiesta a todo dar”.
Todavía no se le porque de tanto jaleo si me invitaban a una fiesta, al cine o a la playa. Igual si quería ir a misas de aguinaldo, tenía que pedirle permiso a la tropa completa. Si me daban permiso tenía que llevar a mi hermana pequeña.
Al menos a mi me dejaban salir con mis hermanos. Los adultos de esta época tenían una mentalidad muy cerrada. Para ellos a las mujeres las preñaban con una sonrisa y al agarrarse de las manos. A mi siempre me ha gustado ser indepediente y los chicos para mi coartaban la libertad. Con solo imaginar que mi hermano mayor se podía enterar y me iba a encerrar en casa. Evitaba los “pegotes”.
Después de adulta, cuando llegue a los veintiocho, comenzó Mami con la cantaleta y el fastidio:
¡Mija, te estás quedando solterona! Ya tu hermana menor se casó. No podía creerlo, ya no comprendía nada. Ahora sí se preocupaba. Pero, yo seguía con mi vida light y sin preocupaciones. Casarme no era mi prioridad, siempre me gustó viajar y con mis compañeras de residencia visité muchas poblaciones.
En mi grupo de amigos a todos nos gusta la música. Entre ellos había un cantante a quien le gustaba cantar chatarritas en inglés. Eduardo tiene una voz bellísima. Lo vi hace dos años y estaba igual de echador de broma, como cuando éramos jóvenes. Compartimos los mismos gustos, salimos a la playa y al cine. Es decir, a todas partes. Había camarería, sonrisas y mucha amistad.
En los años 70 se impusieron bandas, grupos y cantantes que hoy por hoy, se escuchan y sus melodías son muy famosas. Entre ellos: ABBA, Chicago, Earth, Wind & Fire, Aerosmith, Peter Frampton, Billy Joel, Commodores, Barry White, Kansas, entre otros. Cuando estudiaba tercer año, nos escapábamos en las horas libres a casa de una compañera que vivía cerca para escuchar música. Los fines de semana, en las tardes, llegaba Eduardo con su guitarra y todos nos agrupábamos en torno a él para escuchar las canciones.
Creo que eran las únicas canciones que sé sabía. Oh la la. Eduardo es bilingüe y con una linda voz. Sus favoritos eran para esa época: Billy Joel, Peter Frampton, Chicago. Stevie Wonder, y otros que no recuerda ahora. Lo veo ahí y nosotras intentando tararear. Ja, ja, ja. ¡Una locura total! Hoy las traigo para participar en #ThreeTunesTuesday con el amigo @ablaze.

La música es la compañera de los seres humanos, considero que todas las épocas han sido buenas y las generaciones que las vivieron son las que hacen la diferencia. Sobre todo, en la adolescencia que es cuando abrimos los ojos al mundo y comenzamos a tener amigos y algo más que amigos. Por eso yo amo a los años 70 y 80, fue inolvidables porque mi única responsabilidad era estudiar. Para mi marco un hito tanto en la música como en el cine.
Esta melodía es muy especial para mí, se la dedico a mi gran amigo Eduardo. A “Baby, I Love Your Way” le doy la posición uno.

El tercer lugar es para “If you leave me now”, del grupo Chicago. Este grupo se formó en el año 1967. Con grandes éxitos que hoy son clásicos de la música. La melodía seleccionada es una balada al amor desesperado. Fue un éxito que, todavía hoy, donde la pongan, nos hace suspirar a los jóvenes de esa época. Entre las cuales me incluyo, dando gritos de la emoción.

Un clásico de la música. Me embarga la emoción y la gratitud por esos días felices. En la población de Mochima junto a la familia de Carmen; fogatas en la playa y nuestro cantante preferido, Eduardo. A Florangel, Maribel (Q.E.P.D), Norys, Lulin, Chichi, Juani, Claudio, Ramón, Alina, Andy, y Julio. Mi equipo de baskebol preferido: el equipo del Liceo Sucre y su capitán, mi amigo Rafael.
A todos ellos van mis recuerdos y ocupan un lugar especial en mi corazón.
Una de mis melodias preferidas del grupo Chicago, se las dejo como ñapita venezolana, es “Hard to Say I'm Sorry”. Esta melodía fue lanzada en el año 1982. El video que le traigo es para que vean que la edad no tiene nada que ver con las ganas de vivir ni es una incapacidad. En el año 2017 Chicago se presentó en el Festival de Villa del Mar en Chile, y Peter Cetera, demostró que todavía tiene voz y amor por sus fans.
