Ah I love it when I get a big batch of mastered tunes back and getting them all ready for release. But there are some tunes that I just can't publish to Spotify or release on the EAR label because of copyright so I just give these away for free download and let anyone who listens enjoy the tunes!
Today, that free tune is a remix I did of a track from 1990s epic game Killer Instinct, launched on the Super Nintendo, created by Rare.
My favourite character to play was Cinder as I found doing his combos was easiest but that's not to say I didn't play other characters.
The next favourite character was Jago as I liked his quick fire karate style but when you played against him in the one player mode, the background music on his level was pretty epic.
His theme tune was called "Do It Now" and when the main melody kicks in, I just couldn't get it out of my head - that Kabuki Yoooooo though 😃
There were Eastern influences in the track that they added in to this cheesy tune with the vocal sound clips of "lets do it now" and "here we go" but despite that, I wanted to give remixing it a go!
A few months ago, I was going through a nostalgic phase, as is usually the case in Winter months, and I had a few tracks that reminded me of growing up in the 1990s that I just had to complete to feel closure.
Now that they are fully mastered and returned from the studio, I can let these tunes out in to the wild and close off that chapter.
Personally, I loved remixing the older tunes, it's like a nod to the past but also forward thinking to the future with the drum & bass "facelift"!
I did use the vocal samples from the original track but I recited everything else to do with the melodies, drum pattern and bassline is something I modified too so I could probably get away with releasing it but would rather not run the risk of getting caught so it's a free download for everyone to enjoy and rinse out on the speakers!
