Hello musical Hiveans. Sorry I wasn't able to make a post last week. It's been pretty hectic for me in school as I missed some regular contests that are always a vibe for me to participate and hopefully win๐.
Although I didn't make this post so as to make excuses on my lack of activity ๐. This post is to share 3 great tunes.
Now I'm sure by now y'all know the gist of this contest and all, but for those green musical Hiveans that are like
Here's;
The Gist
Every Tuesday I'm going to share 3 songs which I like to listen to and I invite your feedback in the comments below. Better still, why not have a blast of your own Three Tune Tuesday and mention me in the post and I'll come and find the post and upvote it. If you could also use #threetunetuesday tag that would be great, as that is what I use when sifting through all the entries every Wednesday. It'll be a sweet way for us all to discover new music. You'll also be in with a chance of winning the prize - more on that later. ~@ablaze's POV
Now, I've been graced to participate in this competition for twelve weeks and this'll be my thirteenth entry. Although I haven't win yet it's still mighty fun and you know what they say.. thirteenth time's the charm๐
As always in all my entries, I try to make the tunes relate in a kind of way. Genre, beat, source, topic... any way that makes the particular tune to stand out. That's my theme style of #threetunestuesday .
So with that in mind, today's theme is....
Rich Afro Tunes
Image sourced from here and edited using Canva
Coming from a country where the predominant music genre is afrobeat. I've heard a lot๐ต, both good and bad of the genre.
Yet these three tunes, are tunes that really made waves in the afro industry. And the tunes are....
Burna Boy - Dangote
No way your talking about great afro music and your not bringing up Burna Boy in the list.
Call me biased, but I think he's on the pathway of being as popular and we'll remembered as the Afro OG's like Fela Kuti.
On this wonderful track, Burna was talking about how he's not satisfied and won't rest on making money despite his new found fame and money. This song was on his sixth studio album African Giant.
WizKid ft Tems - Essence
Wizkid is another prominent afro artist and although his latest album wasn't received warmly, his more previous albums had some mad songs.
Essence is a song that went off the charts. It parachuted the then juvenile vocalist Tems to superstardom and it brought a lot of pride to wizkid fans.
Although I have to be honest.. for me I think there were better songs on the album๐
(Ginger and True Love were way better ๐) Or maybe it's just my taste ๐๐
Anyways folks, here's Essence..
Now this last tune spot really had me thinking.
Should I just go with the flow and bring up a Davido's song
Which I'm sure is what every Nigerian reading this post is thinking ๐
.
Well after some contemplating, I decided not to go with a Davido's song.
Sorry 30BG geng๐
Olamide- Motigbana
This tune brings back memories and for every dancer it brings up their moves. Olamide really killed it in this song with his killer lines and rap. (Although I don't know Yoruba ๐
)
The song is a natural afro vibe, showing how we Nigerians tend to party and have fun given the slightest opportunity๐. It was all the rage when it came out, with dancers and trend setters carrying the tune as far as it could go, and now I carry it to hive๐
Just saw that a blessed soul wrote the translation to the lyrics in the comments โจ
So that's it from me this week. As always the regular shout-outs, the trendsetter of #threetunestuesday, @ablaze, the great Irish jokester @blanchy , @tengolodo and others that I haven't been chanced to get to know very wellโบ๏ธ.
