The experimental Z-particle harvested from a theorized flatverse had been struck by an errant surge from the quantum stabilizers. The particle accelerated to light speed velocity, tearing through the dimensional barrier into the main research chamber. The particle, a sentient sliver of two-dimensional existence, found itself adrift in what humans call "normal space." The native quantum structures resonated with confusion at this impossible intruder that possessed length and width, but no depth.
As it moved through the chamber, the particle's mono-atomic edge carved through three-dimensional matter like a hot blade through butter. Each perfect bisection violated known laws of physics, leaving bewildered scientists scrambling to explain the phenomenon. Just then a previously undetected magnetic anomaly yanked the particle back into its native flatverse. There, it began manipulating the very force that had transformed it mastering the art of dimensional lightning.
Now it serves as a harbinger, recruiting other two-dimensional entities for incursions into the third dimension, promising them the power to reshape reality one slice at a time.
