It's amazing how music can bring together people from different places into a single crowd in one venue. I've been a fan of NIKI, the Indonesian singer and songwriter, and have been following her music for more than two years now.
Last March 1st, I was able to secure a ticket for her third show in Manila. It was something special as it marked my first solo concert experience. For some reason, I decided to go alone to see her perform live.
The show was held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao. It was actually the last stop of the Asian leg of her tour, which made it even more unforgettable.
This was my second time attending one of her concerts; the first was back in September 2023. That time, I went with my sister and her friends. But this year, they attended the first show, and I went to the third one. Since it wasn't my first concert, I felt confident enough to attend alone.
The Buzz World Tour
Supporting NIKI's third studio album Buzz, the Buzz World Tour is her biggest tour yet. The show featured some of her top hits from the album such as "Tsunami," "Strong Girl," and "Magnets."
She also performed songs from her previous albums. My personal favorites were "Keeping Tabs," "La La Lost You," and a medley of "Backburner" and "Take A Chance With Me."
NIKI originally scheduled only two nights for Manila. However, due to overwhelming demand, she added a third show, where I finally secured my ticket.
Solo Concert Experience
As an introvert, the idea of attending a concert alone really bugged me months before the actual show. Imagine the horror of being alone in such a huge crowd! But I'm so glad I went through with it.
I discovered many upsides to going solo. For one, I didn’t have to worry about anyone else. I felt so free to enjoy the show however I wanted (while still being mindful and respectful of others around me). I was fully immersed in the music without the usual distractions, like small talk, that come with attending with friends.
The only downside was that there was no one to take photos of me inside! To make things worse, I'm quite shy, so I ended up with just a few selfies from inside the coliseum.

Thankfully, my boyfriend was sweet enough to take cute photos of me outside before the show started, even though he didn’t attend the concert.
All in all, it was an experience I’ll never forget. Seeing NIKI perform live again, this time on my own, made me appreciate her music even more and helped me grow a little braver in the process. Sometimes, doing things alone can be just as meaningful, if not more, than sharing them with others. I’m grateful I took the chance.
Here's a compilation of my overall experience that night! Enjoy watching 😉
