The first time I listened to Alice in Chains, was for the song Would? from the album Dirt (1992), I was 8 years old and I saw it in a music video of the same song on MTV, and the truth is that being a child I had no knowledge of the existence of an Alice in Chains Unplugged edition. After more than 5 years, I listened to the unplugged for the first time, and the truth is that it was all a load of emotion and appreciation of the different musical themes in an acoustic version. Although there are a lot of bands that have done Unplugged, among which you can mention Pearl Jam, Nirvana, The Cure, Stone Temple Pilots and others, in this case the Unplugged of Alice in Chains, has a unique feature, where their music is best suited to this version.
La primera vez que escuché Alice in Chains, fue por el tema musical Would? del disco Dirt (1992), tendría 8 años y lo ví por un video musical del mismo tema en MTV, y la verdad que siendo un niño no tenía conocimiento de la existencia de una edición Unplugged de Alice in Chains. Que luego de más de 5 años, escucho por primera vez el unplugged por primera vez, y la verdad que fue todo una carga de emoción y apreciación de los diferentes temas musicales en una versión acústica. Aunque existen una gran cantidad de bandas que han hecho Unplugged, entre los que puede mencionar Pearl Jam, Nirvana, The Cure, Stone Temple Pilots y demás, en este caso el Unplugged de Alice in Chains, tiene una característica única, donde su música se adapta mejor a esta versión.
This album as soon as I saw it, without hesitation I bought it, for me it is like finding a gem, since both music and film, I like to collect these materials in physical, they have a very significant and representative value, more than just listening to music on the Internet or watching a movie on Netflix or other platform, which is why the interest of having music and movies in physical has been lost. An album that when I have it in my hands, generates excitement in me to listen to it again, but trying to preserve its condition, although I have a few copies on my laptop, so that I do not use the disc constantly.
The recording of this Unplugged, took place on April 10, 1996, and it would mean the reunion of the band, after having a time of musical inactivity, but it was not until July 30, 1996, that an official disc of this Unplugged would be released, which basically compiles 71:26 minutes of the different most appreciated musical tracks of Alice in Chains, but in an acoustic version and of course live.
Este disco apenas lo ví, sin dudarlo lo compré, para mí es como encontrar una gema, puesto que tanto la música y el cine, me gusta coleccionar estos materiales en físico, tienen un valor muy significativo y representativo, más que por el simple hecho de escuchar música por Internet o ver alguna película en Netflix u otra plataforma, razón por la cual se ha perdido el interés de tener música y películas en físico. Un disco que al tenerlo en mis manos, me genera emoción en volver a escucharlo, pero tratando de preservar su estado, aunque tengo unas copias en mi laptop, de tal forma que no utilice el.disco constantemente.
La grabación de este Unplugged, se realizó un 10 de abril de 1996, y significaría la reunión de la banda, luego de tener un tiempo de inactividad musical, pero no fue hasta el 30 de julio de 1996, que se lanzaría un disco oficial de este Unplugged, que básicamente compila 71:26 minutos de las diferentes pistas musicales más apreciadas de Alice in Chains, pero en una versión acústica y por supuesto en vivo.
From this album we can the entrance of the Unplugged with songs like Nutshell, passing through Brother, No Excuses, Down in a Hole, Rooster or even the same theme Would? With harmonized voices between the vocalist Layne Staley, with a higher tone in contrast with the lower tone of the guitarist Jerry Cantrell, who also fascinate us with his guitar solos and a more country touch fused with grunge. And of course the remarkable bass of Mike Inez, and the subtle hits of Sean Kinney's drums are not left behind, undoubtedly a complement that gave a beautiful harmony to this Unplugged.
Although, in certain moments we can appreciate certain errors of the vocalist Layne Staley, who it is said that he was in a state under the influence of some type of drug, but even so it would not stop being a musical spectacle, as well as you can feel a very natural personification of the music. It is as I usually say, and as it happened with Nirvana, it is as if this Unplugged would be a funeral preview, what later would be the death of Layne Staley, who would be found dead in 2002. In this way I make a similarity to the realization of Nirvana's Unplugged and later Kurt Cobain's death, which was also a very emotional and natural recital before the ears of all.
De este disco podemos la entrada del el Unplugged con temas como Nutshell, pasando por Brother, No Excuses, Down in a Hole, Rooster o incluso hasta el mismo tema Would?. Con voces armonizadas entre el vocalista Layne Staley, con tono más agudo en contraste con el tono más grave del guitarrista Jerry Cantrell, que también nos fascinan con sus solos de guitarra y un toque más country fusionado con el grunge. Y por supuesto no se quedan atrás el notable bajo de Mike Inez, y los golpes sutiles de la batería de Sean Kinney, sin duda todo un complemento que le dio una hermosa armonía a este Unplugged.
Aunque, en ciertos momentos podemos apreciar ciertos errores del vocalista Layne Staley, quien se dice que se encontraba en un estado bajo la influencia de algún tipo droga, pero aun así no dejaría de ser un espectáculo musical, así como se puede sentir un personificación muy natural de la música. Es como suelo decir, y como paso con Nirvana, es como si este Unplugged sería un anticipo funerario, lo que luego sería la muerto de Layne Staley, quien se encontrarían muerto en 2002. De esta forma hago una similitud a la realización del Unplugged de Nirvana y posteriormente la muerte de Kurt Cobain, que también fue un recital muy emotivo y natural ante los oídos de todos.
Undoubtedly, this album is a jewel for all grunge lovers, as well as for me, who have a great affinity for this musical genre, which I have always perceived as very natural and spontaneous, both in its composition and music, as well as its staging. It is an album that has remained in posterity, as one of the best Unplugged among the great grunge bands. Sin duda, este disco es una joya para todos los amantes del grunge, al igual que para mí, que tengo una gran afinidad por este género musical, que desde siempre lo he percibido como muy natural y espontáneo, tanto en sí composición y música, asimismo como su puesta en escena. Es un disco que ha quedado en la posterioridad, como unos de los mejores Unplugged entre las grandes bandas de grunge. Para quienes nunca lo han escuchado se los recomiendo, e incluso pueden encontrar en YouTube el recital completo en video.
