Adrien āThe Problemā Broner was surprisingly arrested on Friday and taken away in handcuffs by the Las Vegas police while attending the Deontay Wilder vs. Tyson Fury II weigh-in at the MGM Grand in Vegas.
According to @TMZ_Sports, the former four-division world champion Broner (33-4-1, 24 KOs) had been banned from the MGM last November. However, Broner was still able to gain entrance to the MGM last Friday despite the ban.
The reason for Bronerās arrest was because he ārefused to leave the MGM Grand,ā according to TMZ. There was nothing reported on Broner doing anything wrong other than being at the MGM when heād been reportedly banned from the facility. Broner will be getting released and given a āmisdemeanor trespassing citation,ā says TMZ.
According to Mike Coppinger, the reason for Broner being banned was due to an altercation he allegedly had with Gervonta āTankā Davis outside of Golden Boy fighter Ryan Garciaās dressing room on November 2.
At the Wilder-Fury II weigh-in last Friday, Broner was giving a lot of interviews while there, and he seemed to be in a happy mood. He mentioned during one interview that he would be willing to fight Devin Haney if Eddie Hearn could come up with the money [$20 million] heās asking to take the fight. Also, Broner claims that he can make 135 for the fight.
Broner hasnāt fought since losing to Manny Pacquiao last year in January. Despite being inactive for 13 months, Broner has recently attracted a lot of interest after former WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney called him out. Broner subsequently told Haneyās promoter, Hearn, that heāll take the fight for $20 million. On Friday, Broner confirmed that he still wants $20 million for the Haney fight, but for that money, heāll go down to 135 to face Devin.
Bronerās once-promising career has gone downhill since 2016 when he lost his WBA Super World light-welterweight title when he fought Ashley Theophane. Although Broner won that fight by a 9th round knockout, heās looked poor ever since in fighting just 4 times in the last 4 years, and posting a 1-2-1 record. Bronerās only victory in the last three years is a controversial 10 round decision over Adrian Granados in February 2017 in his hometown of Cincinnati.
Devin Haney wants Broner fight
āHeās talking about how he can make 135, but he looks like 200 lbs. I donāt think he can make 135,ā said Devin Haney to Fighthype. āI want him now. Whoever AB fights, theyāre going to tune in due to his antics. I like him, but Iād fā him up. His resume and what he brings to the table would look good on my resume. For him, heāll gain some money. It would be a good fight regardless. He has size over me, and I have youth,ā said Haney.
Broner said in an interview at the MGM on Friday that thereās nothing to gain for him in fighting Haney because he wonāt be given credit for beating him. Broner says heās bigger, stronger and more experienced than Haye. With all those advantages, Broner thinks the fans would give him his due for beating Haney. However, Broner is still willing to fight Haney, albeit for $20 million.
