Hi guys, I hope we are all doing fine. It's rainy season over and everywhere is cool and chilly. It's KISS again and I can't but share my entry to the topic of the week.
I grew up with my grandma, and growing up under the tutelage of an old woman really made me value life so much. I will literally say, I appreciate things a lot, especially things are lovely, useful and timeless. I grew up seeing my grandma cherish a lot of ancient decorative items, utensils and lots more. So, I love and keep a lot of vintages. Those collectibles are not just without meaning, many of them are of great significance.
There's this particular glass bowl in my house. I'm sure it's over 50 years old. My grandma had it before she got married. It has been in the house for a quite number of years, but I so much love it that I can't but take it to my husband's house when I got married, even as a minimalist. I believe minimalism does not stop us from appreciating and collecting good things. It just has to be in a minimal way with good arrangements, in a way that they don't clutter our space.
The other flower vase beside was a gift from a sister's wedding in 2009. I was still in junior secondary school then, but I cherished it and kept it till I have a home of mine and use it for decoration.
The flower inside the vase was my own bouquet at my wedding. I didn't throw it to anyone. It was just choice. Many people thought I should have followed the societal norm of throwing it to people, but I couldn't just let go of it anyhow , as a vintage collector and minimalist that I am. It costs some money, whereas most of these people that catch bouquets at weddings just do it for fun and carelessly displaced it afterwards. So, I decided I was not going to throw away my bouquet but keep it and make it more useful.
What amazes many people about me is that despite the fact that I have some vintages, my space is not cluttered but free. Yes, it is like that because I am always intentional about anything I do. Though I love vintages, I only collect things that are useful and important. It is not all things we'll collect and keep. I mean, if a set of furniture is beautiful but broken, there is no need to keep them. Our space become cluttered when we keep those things are not useful nor necessary. I'm a proud vintage collect and I keep it simple and free. Thanks for reading.
