Hi guys, I hope we are doing well. I'm so glad for this great prompt. It's an eye-opening to how people see us and how we see ourselves. Sincerely, if you ask anyone about me in my neighborhood, they are likely to describe with these same three words.
I laughed out so loud the first time I heard people call me 'mama creative' I didn't expect that because I never named any of my child 'creative' or 'creativity'. I never knew they had looked at me so well and summed up my life and just describe me being 'creative'. I later sat down to look deeply into my ways of life and I admit that am creative. In fact, there's no minimalist that is not creative. Once you embraced the lifestyle, you start thinking differently. Imagine, you don't want any to waste, you start thinking about how to make an optimal use of things, other people would otherwise throw away, and there, creativity comes in.
In fact, there's this glass bowl my mother possessed in the 1970s, we all grew up to meet this bowl in the house, but it was always in the packed among the old things kept under her bed. We only get to see it occasionally when we are searching for things under the bed. So, I fell in love with the bowl since the first day, I saw it. Even when others did not find it useful. I decided to pick it and take along to my husband's house. Now, I place it on the centre table for decoration in my home. It's indeed an ancient one but I love it. It's really beautiful, thanks to my minimalist lifestyle.
People also describe me as being 'Mindful'. Seriously, I can't agree less with this word. What is minimalist living without mindfulness. As a minimalist, I take cognizance of everything within and around me. I think through all I do. I consider and mind all those things that can cause wastage, and I avoid them. I hate wasting money and other resources. So, it is highly glaring that I am mindful. Imagine, even at home, as a woman, am mindful of the portion of food I make to avoid wastage. I'm also mindful of time and make judicious use of everything I have, which has really been of great help to me.
The most intriguing and most lovely adjective is 'Classy'. This qualifier gives me so much joy. You know it is good to be addressed as being mindful and creative, but it is great and so encouraging to be described with the word 'classy'. The reason is that many do think minimalists can never be classy, maybe because we don't spend extravagantly. So, it gladdens my spirit when I still look classy even with the little I have, and that's exactly what minimalist is all about; looking the best , even with little. Funny enough, most of my outfit are second hand ones from thrift stores, but I do combine it effortlessly and graciously, which has in turn made me a creative, mindful and classy icon wherever I appear. Sincerely, minimalist lifestyle is that way of life.
Thanks for stopping by.
