Hello dear friends of this beautiful community, it is a pleasure to participate this week in #kiss. The truth for years I wondered what I had to do to earn more money, I worked hard to get it, in fact we come from a family that strives hard to get the necessary, but my parents always worked hard because we had the daily sustenance.
Before talking about my experience it is necessary to clarify that the economic situation in our country has always varied a lot, some months you can be well and economically comfortable and a few months later although you have the same job the money is not enough for anything. At the age of 12 I decided to take care of a little girl, to earn some money and help at home, it was not much time because my studies did not allow me, I remember that the first week of my first salary I bought a beautiful set of barbie to my younger sister, many will think that I could have bought something more necessary, but my parents did everything possible because we did not lack anything in food, but for clothes sometimes there was not so much, so I decided to buy her clothes to my little sister, although it was little I felt very good because I could do something for someone at home.
During my high school classes, I helped my classmates to solve exercises or to do homework and they would bring me pencils, pens, white paper or exam papers, among other things. I graduated from high school at the age of 16 and while I was waiting for my acceptance letter to the university I worked in the canteen or lunchroom of a school, where I learned to make the tastiest empanadas.
I never stopped helping my parents, I do not mean that I contributed a lot financially at home but I tried to do work at the university for other people as clinical cases, nursing projects and other work so that my study expenses were not so heavy. The truth is that when it is in your mind to accomplish your goals, you try harder even if life puts obstacles in your way.
Several years have passed but the situation is still the same, I left my job as a nurse even though it was my passion because my salary was not enough, I still do that job but when someone requires my service I help them and without charging, because the reward I receive by doing so is much greater, I feel good about myself and seeing people recover or feel better or a thank you, fills my soul. I have had the opportunity to take care of several people who are no longer here, or as many times I say that they could not make it and knowing that the last thought to me of those people was of relief or affection fills me much more than money.
We have had the opportunity to live with less than we need, but that does not make us less, it makes us brave, it makes us resilient, it has taught us empathy and of course brotherhood. I say this because there is always someone who always has less than you and you learn to help. There is a phrase that is said a lot around here, "If I have one flour and you have nothing, then we both have one flour". Those words seem silly but they have been very true when it comes to helping each other.
If I had less possessions, I would try to adapt myself, sometimes the simple things are more pleasant, without my phone for example I would try to concentrate more on nature, on the little things that are the ones that fill life with joy, I am not saying with this that I don't do it but the time that I dedicate to some other things I own could bring me closer to people, to my family because I would not only send them a message but I would be there for them frequently. Recently my sister-in-law lost her dad and it was amazing how people came from all over to his funeral, everyone had something nice to say about him, he didn't have a lot of money, nor was he well educated, he just cared about people and was interested in their problems, the affection was seen in the course of his illness and then at his funeral.
My decision is to be happy with what I need, to help those I can if it is in my hands, to embrace my loved ones more and never focus on what I don't have. I will never regret the experiences that I lived throughout my life, those that made me what I am now, I am happy having little, but I have everything only if I have my family by my side.
