I find blog ideas interesting in how those who participate get to share their perspective on the same topic and the diverse ways in which we see influenced by our inner worlds and the beauty of the human experience can't help but shine.
The admin poked into my interest with this week's blog idea as it touches on something we should all have a conversation with ourselves about, our values. And though they are many, here are my top five :)
...what are values you may ask?
Values are the scales that weigh what matters to you and they help you determine what you prioritize. They are meant to align with your character or you are bound to befriend unhappiness.
... Spirituality;
I feel like for me to be anything else, awareness comes first. In search of mine, I ran into other particularities of my presence here that drove me to explore further into the most complex conversation with myself.
It has been and seemingly going to keep being this recognising process to a formerly religious soul. I was raised in a Pentecostal misogynistic setting and I was all about it until I started having more questions than answers.
They had to be more in everything and it turns out that there is. My identity goes way beyond what the good book says and with every layer, I unfold a mystery of the miracle that tied my bones together and breathed life into them.
Nothing has been more freeing than decolonising my mind in search of sacred ways to live a more fulfilling life. Oh, and the liberty in embracing more ways of worship without feeling like I am idolizing what I was raised knowing it was a sin to do.
... Authenticity;
What would follow my knowing myself is being true to who I am to the core. I think when you can live authentically, the ability to then let others be themselves becomes human.
This I feel then enables you to grow compassion and concern for others. It also cultivates friendliness and honour if you let it.
... Personal Growth;
For the ego lies only to later die at the sight of a differently-dressed lesson and I have learned not to rely on her. Working on myself is a continuous process where I get to learn and unlearn while relearning what there is.
The courage to take on a never-ending process breeds dependability and the need to stay positive as much as I can. This then fuels my commitment to bettering myself for myself and those around me.
... Family;
They contribute a lot to shaping who I am and have provided my inner child with clarity and structure. I have found her toying happily with the idea of what she yearned for over the inconsistencies that were there.
Raising children has driven me to parent myself into a better person. It has unintentionally instilled whatever it is that a mother can think of to bring up a better version of the human she is.
... Flexibility;
To allow everything to flow, I have come to appreciate the easiness of adaptation and adjustment as change is a way of life. Survival means being ready to let go and move into a new phase if the situation requires such.
In a way, it helps build tolerance through the seasons that apply themselves to the rhythm of the days of our lives. Being flexible also creates room for me to make and learn from my mistakes. It is how I have carved my character and her empathetic and minimalist approach to life.
...the digital art is mine.
