Dragonflies can fly in all directions, including sideways and backwards, even soaring at one point for more than a few minutes. This amazing ability is the secret of their success in ambushing their prey.
Fortunately, dragonflies cannot bite humans, because their jaws are not strong enough to break our skin. There are only a few types that can bite us, but dragonflies only do it as a self-defense strategy.
