So most photographers have heard of and use the rule of thirds to enhance the composition and impact of their images.
But some images just don't fit this style. This tree always grabs my attention when I see it at Shakespear Regional park in Auckland New Zealand. It sits high on a hill all on it's own and you see it from afar-like a movie set it just doesn't look real ,especially on a beautiful Summer day with a stunning sky as a backdrop. This time I decided to photograph it several times as I got closer and closer-using the rule of halves(is that a real rule?)that meant an even split of hill and sky with the tree smack in the middle drawing your eye to it as the solitary object. See what you think-does this work?
Finally two more conventional shots of another tree in park-stunning views over the Waitemata harbour and the park.
I hope you enjoyed this quick trip in the park!
