It's one of the photographic genres that fascinates me the most, but lately it has limited my freedom to work. The rights to privacy and personal identity are increasingly restricting photographers who like to go out and photograph people, especially in countries where the laws are stricter - like mine.
Anyone can prevent being photographed. Publishing without permission can also be a problem. There are exceptions, but in most cases life is becoming increasingly difficult for street photographers. The solution is to be discreet and fair-play if there is a sensitive episode to resolve.
When I photograph, I don't think much, I just react to the stimuli. Then, when I edit, I think about the life of each person in the photograph. "Where are they going? What have they done before and what are they going to do next? Are they happy?". These are the questions that motivate me to discreetly go out into the street and freeze these brief moments of the back and forth of each person's daily life.

O condicionalismo de fotografar na rua
É um dos géneros fotográficos que mais me fascina mas, ultimamente, tem condicionado a minha liberdade de trabalho. Os direitos à privacidade e identidade pessoal limitam cada vez mais os fotógrafos que gostam de ir para a rua fotografar pessoas, principalmente em países onde as leis são mais exigentes - como o meu.

Qualquer pessoa pode impedir ser fotografada. A publicação sem autorização também pode ser um problema. Há exepções, mas na maioria dos casos a vida está cada vez mais difícil para os fotógrafos de rua. A solução é ser discreto e ter fair-play, caso haja algum episódio sensível para resolver.

Quando fotografo pouco penso, reajo apenas aos estímulos. Depois, quando edito, penso na vida de cada pessoa que está na fotografia. “Para onde ela vai? O que fez anteriormente e o que vai fazer a seguir? É feliz?”. São essas questões que me motivam a ir discretamente para a rua congelar esses breves momentos do vai-vem do quotidiano de cada um.
