This is my entry for The Friendlymoose Photocontest #FPC with this weeks topic "DECAY". (Join it!)

Construction has been going on in my neighbourhood for years. One ugly, faceless new building follows the next, taking away the last bit of charm left in the area.
It is somewhat reminiscent of the Roman invasion of Gaul, as we know it from the Asterix comics. In the midst of the new buildings, this small, decaying hut defies the building mania like the Gallic village. And that's exactly why I like it. Neither it nor the space around it is particularly beautiful, nor does it enhance the neighbourhood. But it shows an unbroken spirit of resistance to the flood of concrete that is spreading through our cities.
The hut has seen better days. Days when the roof was still in order and the walls were still standing. Days when the old lantern nearby still provided light and the hut offered homeless people a place to sleep. Those days are gone, several fires have ravaged the hut. And yet it still stands there, defying modern times.
