I love documentary photography

Documentary photography is my favorite style of photography to shoot. There is so much that happens every second in or lives and I love being able to capture details that will last a lifetime.
The shot above is a great example of this. To some it just looks like a child getting his hair done by someone else. But in reality, it is a father that is getting his youngest son ready for the father's wedding. I wonder what is going on in this little guy's head as he prepares to have new brothers and sisters added to his life. Not to mention that he is going to have a new mother that adores him.
I love the way that he is looking at his father in this shot because you can see the trust and love in his eyes.

This is another one of my favorite shots. The young man on the left is the oldest child of the bride and the fact that the groom took so much time to make sure all of the kids are ready to look good and support their mom for her big day. I could feel the love that he has for her kids and it was so cool.

Now that the kids were all dressed and taken care of, it was time for the groom to get ready. There is so much going on in this shot, from the framing and the story that it tells. The groom really had some great groomsmen to support him on his wedding day.

There is so much more to a wedding that what traditional wedding photography shows and I really think it is awesome that I am able to tell a story with my photos. Being a documentary photographer is basically being able to use my camera to capture life's little moments and tell a story. It is such a special gift that I love being able to give people memories that they will cherish for a lifetime.
