While engaging in some bird watching, we spotted a little bank vole that lives in the stone wall. Bank voles are pretty quick, so you have to put bird seed or nuts down to persuade them to stay still. Passers-by leave bird food on the walls, ensuring a consistent food supply for these small mammals.
The robin is a dependable bird, often the first to arrive at food sources. They are also the easiest birds to photograph because they tend to stay still and pose.
The blackbird also swooped down to enjoy the feast, its glossy feathers glinting in the sun.
The nuthatch descended the wall where we had left bird seed for the bank vole, despite there being lots of food available on the top of the wall.
This morning’s bird watching wasn't a complete success, as there was very little bird activity, likely due to the ongoing logging operations creating too much noise pollution. Hopefully, it won't last much longer.
