It's shocking how many photos I have not posted yet. These are not random photos, these have been taken at art exhibitions, which means the art I have photographed is unique, which makes my photos unique as well. I mean everyone can take photos of some clouds and even though the photos are unique, the subject is repetitive to some extent. The subject of the photos I'm going to post today are not.
The artist is Ioan Alexandru Herdelau, and you saw two paintings from him in my post yesterday.
He's an exceptional talent in my eyes and you'll see why I'm saying this, and you can decide if I'm right or not.
I'm starting with this painting, which has no title (none of them had a title), so it is left to the viewer to think and say whatever they want.
This is a street view, a few seconds of our life on a rainy day, on canvas. What surprised me was the striking crosswalk as it's not a common subject for painters, but this is not all.
As about the painting, even though it's not a common one, I love the colors (not counting the dominant red) and how the painter used the brushstrokes on canvas.
If you look carefully, you can see what's the artist's particularity. I love how the painting is no so precise or better yet, shapes are not well defined. Most likely this style is confusing or annoying to some, but not for me.
The more I look at these paintings, the more I fall in love with them and the style. I remember I asked if the paintings are for sale and as in most of the cases, the was a price list, which I knew would make me sad and it did. These paintings were not small, not for an apartment anyway and the price was ... directly proportional with the size of the paintings and the greatness of the artist in my opinion. Good art worth paying for, I'm not against it, but you need to have the funds you can allocate to it and also have the necessary space.
This painting shows a moment of street life and it may be nothing special to you, but I love it. Mostly the light and the colors that fascinates me and at the end of the day, it all comes down to how it makes you feel. I'd be buying for myself and would be for the mentioned reason, not for store of value, so I'd be free to pick what I want. No pressure from the snob world to buy art to fit their mood and expectation. No offense.

Look at those eyes and the facial expression of the lady, also the harmony between the colors used by the artist.
As much as I love the artist's style and consider this portrait exceptional, I wouldn't want it on my wall. Imagine this lady looking at you every day :)
Being a regular at these exhibitions, the gallery ladies know me well and we always exchange pleasantries at my every visit and talk a bit about the exhibition too. She told me that if she were to use one word to describe the portraits, that would be eyes and I can not disagree with her. If you look at the painting above, you see the majority of the canvas is blurry if I can use this word, only the eyes are well defined and sparkling as well.
Another fantastic portrait and contrary to what I said regarding the first portrait, I would gladly hang this one on my wall. I'm not sure what the lady is thinking of, where her mind is, but I love the look on her face and her greenish eye. If you have a look at the colors used, you don't find them too striking, there's a harmony on every canvas, even here.
This is an unconventional portrait and contrary to the previous ones, there are no eyes here. That doesn't mean I don't like it. Different is good.
Now I know why I didn't post these photos. Most likely I saved them for a portrait series, then have never posted them, because sometimes I have more photos than space in my posts.
Finding them and looking at them feels great now. I really love the style of the artist. Love these portraits. The good thing about taking photos about everything is that I have the artist's contact details and could contact him in case I decide to buy a painting. I'd really want that honestly.
Last, but not least, the last portrait, a very different one. First of all, the most obvious, the lady has two faces, which is amazing in art and here especially as the face is lovely. Secondly, the stronger colors, which I like. What I don't like here is the cigarette. I have no problem with people choice, but would not like to look at a lady smoking every day. otherwise I love this painting for many reasons.
Most likely this is going to look stupid, but I'm bookmarking my own post, in case one day decide to buy another painting. Would be happy to buy one of these.
