The Most Amazing Textile Art

It's possible that when hearing about textile art, some of you think of two pieces of cloth and some threads, but this type of art is more than that. Way more. It's real art and you'll see the proof of it in this post.

The photos I'm going to share today are from the annual textile exhibition held in my country, where there are usually around 80 artists exhibiting over 140 artworks. It's like paradise for me and all the art lovers and I wish you could visit such an exhibition to experience the feeling.

If I were to give a prize, this most likely would take gold. Let me upload some close-up partial photos to see the details of this amazing composition.

After looking at this piece, if you still think that textile art is two pieces of cloth and three threads, then think again. What you have here is different type of fabrics and leather as well.

I still can't believe someone had the imagination to make a sketch, a drawing of the concept, then find the right fabrics, leather and threads to sew all this together end do the embroidery you see here.

Compared this absolutely amazing textile masterpiece with a painting, from artistic point of view, I don't know which one is more difficult. Imagine a painter has a set of paints at hand, which they mix as many times as they like, adding different colors till they get what they want. When it comes to textile art, you don't have that luxury. You have to go out, find the right fabric or leather, the right thread to be able to create your piece. If you cut it wrong or sew it wrong, you can start from the beginning, because you can't cover the whole mess with another layer of base coat.

This piece is not a usual one, it's not light, it is quite heavy if I can use this expression and requires space to show its real value, but I'd love to have it. I'm sure @mandragora88 will like it.

Hedy M-Kiss - Crop of Clouds

I could not find a better angle to take photos from, but I hope you can see what these two textile paintings are about. What I love here is the simplicity of the creation. It's the exact opposite of the previous artwork, but it's just as fantastic in my eyes, as the previous one, just in a different way.

Zsuzsa Nagy - 9x1

After seeing so many amazing artworks, you think you've seen it all and life proves you wrong every single time. Look at this one for example. This knocked me off my feet, if I can use this very simple (and not the most elegant) expression. Most likely the idea is not unique, most likely others have painted something similar, but to see it as weave is a different level. What I love the most about this composition is that the artist didn't want to make it perfect. You see lines don't align, there's no symmetry, but that's totally fine, it makes me more valuable in my eyes.

Gabriela Petrica Bodis - Time Capsule I. II. III.

This is a bit confusing. I mean I fail to see why these are named time capsules. Apologies for the quality, these artworks must have been roaming around a lot as the white base, or frame is dirty already. The photo of the last one is blurry, my apologies for that and would not post it, but it's part of the concept.

Madalina Vieru - Traces

This is the top level of the gallery and I can say, it is only open, when there's the textile exhibition as that's when the space available on the ground floor is not enough. I love this space, while I was visiting was thinking what would it be like, to live there.

I need to post some cropped photos for you to see what these two lovely artworks really are.

Brilliant idea and execution. I must admit, it would have never crossed my mind, but I love it.

This was a mystery for me. I get that spring is colorful, but could not figure out what medium it is. Was it painted canvas? I honestly don't know.

While working on this post and going through all these photos, I'm still amazed how many good artworks I got to see and how art is really without frontiers. The sky is the limit as they say.
