One of the cutes animals that live here in the wild in Austria is the ground squirrel. Everytime I visit them in Lower Austria and Vienna I am amazed by their cuteness and the trust they have when coming very close to me. Over the last years I was able to take several nice pictures of these beautiful animals and I am proud that I managed to capture some very closeup shots of them. Since they are very cute animals I have also bought some Poster Prints for my flat, and I am always very happy to see them several times a day. This year I have to admit that I only visited them once and I didn't take that much pictures like in the past.
I know some years ago I took more than thousand pictures during several hours visiting them and watching them running over the meaddow and the prairie-like soil.

Because I took most of my pictures in Upper Austria this past year, I also haven't visited Vienna and the Hamsters there very often. Also only once the last year, a very low number compared to the last years. But on the other hand I was able to take some more pictures of birds like the white tailed eagle or the curlews and other birds that live at the Inn River here in Upper Austria. The wetlands of the Inn River are also a very interesting place for some bird pictures and I don't have to drive so far with the car.
The ground squirrels eat grass most of the time but they also like sunflower seeds, nuts and wheat.
