Today we went to the garage where my brother takes his truck. While talking with the wife of his mechanic, she told me that they were going to cut the old grape plant that is in the garden and that has given shade to the garage of that house since she can remember, I asked her why. Well, I could feel her voice break a little when she told me, it was noticeable that nostalgia was present, she told me the reasons they had to cut it and although they are valid, I identified a little with her, because years ago something similar happened in our house.
I wanted to take some photographs with some editing to give them to her as a gift and to give her that memory that surely takes her back to her childhood, as she tells me that, as a child, her relatives used to gather to collect grapes and prepare homemade wine, it was a tradition for her family, which was lost after the physical departure of her mother. At that moment I asked my brother for the phone and took some fairly decent shots because the truth is that the lighting did not help me much, I could not wait until tomorrow, as I did not think I would find the plant again, I share these images with a touch of selective color, which evokes a little nostalgia she feels for her plant.
One of the things I love about photography is being able to transport us to a place, to a time, and even to remember aromas, I'm sure my friend will love this, and although they are not the best shots, she will appreciate them.

Hoy en la mañana fuimos al taller donde mi hermano lleva su camioneta, y mientras conversaba con la esposa de su mecánico, me comentaba que iban a cortar la vieja planta de uvas que está en el jardín y que le ha dado sombra al garaje de esa casa desde que ella tiene uso de razón, le pregunte ¿por qué? Pues pude sentir como su voz se quebró un poco cuando me lo comento, se notó que la nostalgia se hizo presente, me comento las razones que tienen para cortarla y aunque son valederas, me identifique un poco con ella, pues hace años sucedió algo similar en nuestra casa.
Quise hacerle unas fotografías con algo de edición para regalárselas y que tuviera ese recuerdo que seguramente la transporta a su infancia, pues me cuenta que, de pequeña, sus familiares se reunían a recolectar las uvas y preparar vino casero, era una tradición para su familia, que se perdió tras la partida física de su madre. Al momento le pedí el teléfono a mi hermano e hice unas tomas medianamente decentes, pues la verdad es que la iluminación no me ayudaba mucho, no podía esperar a mañana, pues no creo encontrar la planta nuevamente, les comparto estas imágenes con un toque de color selectivo, que evoca un poco la nostalgia que siente ella por su planta.
Una de las cosas que amo de la fotografía, es el hecho de poder transportarnos a un lugar, a una época, e incluso a recordar aromas, estoy segura de que esto le encantara a mi amiga, y aunque no son las mejores tomas, ella las va a valorar.
