The working environment, in my opinion, is one of the crucial factors in enhancing productivity while working. A negative environment tends to make me feel drained quickly and sometimes runs me out of ideas. As a photographer, we do have the flexibility to choose our working place, whether it's at home or seek different surroundings like a café or a workspace. However, for some introverts, working from home might be the most suitable choice as it avoids the exhaustion of socializing with people outside.
I, too, am an introvert and sometimes prefer working from home. However, lately, I've started to change this habit because as a photographer, we are obliged to interact with new people. To cope with this, I've begun to mingle and change my habit from working at home to working in cafes.
I believe a photographer is never far from the world of coffee. For some, caffeine triggers the emergence of new ideas. I am one of them. I can't be far from coffee; even before starting a photo session, I need to have at least one cup of coffee. It helps me stay focused on capturing moments and generates creative and spontaneous ideas during the photoshoot. However, for those intolerant to caffeine, I suggest not trying it as I think it's merely a placebo effect, but I enjoy it.
There is a café in my city that is comfortable for me to work in. It's not too crowded during regular working hours, maybe just a few people, which suits me well as I'm learning to interact with many people. The café gets busy in the evenings, while I usually work from 2 pm to 6 pm. As you know, a photographer's work involves curating photos and editing, so I have the flexibility to choose my working hours.
Many people in the café know me, from the waitresses to the baristas. This is because I spend most of my working time in this café. Apart from the cozy ambiance, the people who work in this café are friendly, always greeting me when I walk in. The coffee here is excellent as they have their own roasting machine, and they really have a solid understanding of coffee basics. They even have a coffee lab for those interested in learning about the origins of the coffee they are drinking.
Therefore, as a photographer, I tried to capture a bit of the atmosphere of this café and show you where I usually edit my photos before I upload them to clients or to this beloved community. Here are the photos:
The photos above were taken today, and I immediately shared them with you all. Because I want to share how the atmosphere is when I work, when I edit photos, and when I create posts for this community. By sharing this with you, I hope you can also go somewhere else if the atmosphere at your workplace is getting dull, whether it's going to a cafe, a park, or a place you feel is suitable for finding new ideas. To be honest, my home workspace is very small and sometimes feels cramped because I haven't been able to organize it properly, so I prefer to go out.
Meanwhile, the photo above is of the barista who always makes coffee for me. Without me having to order, they already know what drink I prefer. Well, besides all that, my main purpose is actually to test my old digital camera, as it has not been turned on for a long time and I will use it for tomorrow's photoshoot. I plan to do a night shoot using the built-in flash on the camera and only relying on the digital camera. I need some distortion for the photos I will take tomorrow, hence I will use this camera. One reason is that I don't have a lens with a super-wide focal length, so using the digital camera is my choice.
Not forgetting, the last photo is of the drink I always order, a cup of cold brew coffee. I really love this coffee because I find its taste very refreshing, especially suitable for hot daytime weather, especially when accompanied by a slice of sweet cake.
Thank you to those of you who stopped by my post, I am delighted to be able to share with all of you. Although this time it's not a portrait photo of a woman or a pre-wedding shoot, I hope you also enjoy it. Because I want you to experience the atmosphere while I work. Remember to always keep our minds relaxed so that new ideas can emerge, whether it's during a photoshoot or just in the editing process. As photographic artists, we must be able to capture unique, characterful, emotive photographs and other elements that make people call us a photographer.
Once again, I express my heartfelt thanks for all your support up to this moment. I hope to always present interesting posts that might help you find new ideas during your photoshoots.
Warm regards from me.
