As the forecast was showing clear skies and seeing the recent photos of the famous plugholes overflowing myself and @fastchrisuk decided there was some star trails to be had. Unfortunately on arrival the water was about a foot under the lip of the plugholes, gutted! Anyways, I had to grab a shot or two. Not too bad but then decided to go over and join Chris getting a star trail over the tower(go check out his pic). Absoultely freezing and after about an hour and half and nearly 200 shots later we decided to call it a night. Well the big surprise was after the processing, there was a faint green glow on the photos? Cant believe it but its aurora! The northern lights! Verrry rare to see this far down the country. Couldnt see it by eye but its defo there on the camera. Absolutely buzzing and a relatively plane free sky aswell. What a great evening, ive got my mojo back now for astro landscapes so watch this space.
