“-28°C Snow World”
Minus 28°C!!! Yes, it's super cold plus the wind creates blizzards and a whiteout so, we feel colder. I am originally from Hokkaido, Japan so, I thought I could stand it if I tried to be careful but it is really really cold. However, outside looked very beautiful this morning. Our windows looked like ice-white windows. We can’t stop using our wood stove all day long.
My dog was very scared of the snow today. He usually can't stand to not go for a walk on a snowy day especially but he didn't even step into the snow today. I think he feels too cold with his paws. He looked so sad when he had to go to the toilet outside.
I saw that there were and are power outages in Nova Scotia, Canada. I feel so sorry about people who lost electric power when we have around -25 to -28°C even more. I can't believe that the power company decided to raise the fees. Who feels happy about that? I think many companies decided to raise electric bills in many countries. Hmm... This is difficult to accept.
I am hoping to see the northern lights someday but it's still -28°C. I saw a beautiful moon instead tonight. Nature is very strict but beautiful. I will show you some snow photos.

氷点下２８度。はい、とても寒いです。風が強くて地吹雪きが起こり、ホワイトアウトになるのでさらに体感温度が低く感じます。北海道出身なので、気をつけて頑張っていればなんとか耐えられるだろうと思っていましたが、かなり寒いです。でも、朝起きた時に見た外の景色はとできれいでした。窓は全て凍りつき白い窓でした。一日中薪ストーブがフル活動です。
わたしの犬は雪をすごく怖がりました。特に雪の日はいつもに増して散歩に行きたくて仕方がないのですが、今日は雪の上に足を踏み入れることも嫌がりました。きっと足が冷たすぎて嫌だったのだと思います。トイレは外でしなくてはならないのですが、とでも悲しそうにトイレに行っていました。
ノバスコシア州では停電の地域がけっこうあったようで、今も復旧していない所があるようです。マイナス２５度〜２８度、それ以上もある極寒の中、電気が使えない人がいるなんてとても気の毒です。最近電力会社が値上げを決めたらしく、こんな状況下で値上げをすることに疑問だらけです。色々な国が電力の値上げをしているようで、納得し難いです。
オーロラをいつか見たいですが、これでもまだマイナス２８度に過ぎません。今晩は代わりに月を見ました。自然は厳しいですが、きれいです。雪の写真を撮りました。
White icy windows in this morning. Outside looked very cold. Actually, I had to take my dog outside around 5:00 am. I felt like I was standing in a movie set or something. It was freezing cold.
真っ白に凍りついた朝の窓です。外はきれいでとても寒いです。朝方の５時に犬をトイレに連れ出した時、映画のセットが何かに立っているような気分になりました。凍える寒さでした。
Our house and greenhouse shed are frozen. They are covered with snow. It's a snow world.
家とグリーンハウスの物置がすっかり雪に覆われて凍りついています。雪の世界です。
This is the north side window. Outside trees look frozen and sleeping.
こちらは北側の窓です。外の木々は凍りついて眠っているようです。
My dog looks so sad to go to the toilet. He didn't want to step into the snow. We had to advise him a lot today. Usually, he runs around this yard because he likes snow but not today.
わたしの犬がトボトボと悲しそうに歩いてトイレに行っています。雪の上に乗るのが嫌だったようです。何度も行きなさいとアドバイスを言しなければなりませんでした。いつもなら喜んで雪の上を走り回るのですが、今日は違うようです。
This is the storm window for the outside mudroom at the front door. The net is covered with snow. We couldn't see outside from here today.
これは外の玄関前の土間のネットです。雪ですっかり覆われています。今日はここから外を見るのは不可能です。
The snow is covering the trees. The trees look cold as well. I am glad that my husband saw a squirrel that lives on our property.
木を覆い尽くした雪。木も寒そうです。主人からうちの敷地内に住んでいるリスを見かけたときいて、ホッとしました。
The pine trees are also coated with thick snow.

今朝のノバスコシア州の気温。
These Mammut boots are for around -20°C. I was okay with these for a while but soon needed to wear different boots.
When I walked into the snow, the sound of snow was very interesting like I stepped on styrofoam or something. Or I even thought that today’s snow was like a starch texture. It reminds me of “Yuki Watari (Snow Crossing)- Kenji Miyazawa.”

このマムートのブーツはマイナス２０度前後まで対応で、初めは特に問題がなかったのですが、やはり別のもっと暖かいブーツをはいたほうが良さそうです。
雪の上を歩くと発泡スチロールの上を歩いているようなギシギシとおもしろい音がしました。もしくは片栗粉を踏んでいるような気分でした。宮沢賢治作の「雪渡り」を思い出しました。
かた雪かんこ、しみ雪しんこ。

I switched to these Sorel boots after all. These are okay for around -40°C. These are perfect for this type of temperature. I used to have another pair of Sorels which lasted for more than 10 years.
ソレルブーツにはき替えました。これはマイナス４０度位まで対応なので、今日のような気温にはもってこいです。別のタイプのソレルブーツも持っていたのですがもう１０年以上活躍してくれましたが、寿命で処分しました。
This is a very thick Marmot down jacket. Usually, I don't need to wear a thicker sweater or something. I just wear a t-shirt or a thin long sleeve shirt inside of this down jacket. However, I felt like I was wearing a very thin down jacket.
これはマーモットの極暖ダウンジャケットです。普段はこの中に分厚いセーターなど切る必要が全くないくらい暖かいので、Tシャツや薄手のロンTを着るだけで充分です。でも、今日はすごく薄いダウンジャケットを羽織っているような感覚でした。
Our car is covered with snow. Outside is just white. I can hear the strong wind sound. I created cut-paper artwork near the window watching the blizzard.
車も雪に覆われています。外は真っ白です。風の音がとても大きいです。今日はここで切り絵をしながら外の吹雪きを眺めていました。

The moonlight looked beautiful a couple of hours ago. I hope tomorrow will be a bit warmer. Stay warm and dry everyone!
