This summer, my wife and I purchased two fruit trees, a Lisbon lemon tree and a Satsuma orange tree. We have them in containers on our back patio. With the change of seasons, we started to see some freezing temperatures overnight. The Satsuma is labeled "frost hardy," but the Lisbon lemon...I'm not so sure. So, I brought the lemon tree into our breakfast nook where I spend most of my time on my laptop. I have to admit, I really enjoy the fragrance of the blossoms. Having grown up in the 1960's, I can't help but hum the song "Lemon Tree" by Peter, Paul and Mary whenever I'm around the tree.
As much as I enjoy having the lemon tree inside, trees are meant for the outside. So, as the night-time temperatures rose back above freezing, I put the lemon tree back on the patio. And, I'm so happy I did! Instantly, butterflies flocked to the flowers. It was such a beautiful sight that I ran for my camera. My photos don't come close to doing justice to the experience though. Wish you all could have been here to see this...
