Come along and check out this cute little BREVIK harbour at the Lake Vättern in KARLSBORG ~ SWEDEN 🇸🇪
We saw some beautiful views there and I will show you today everything I saw. This cute little harbour is located on the second largest lake in Sweden: Lake Vättern. We stopped here on our journey north last June. It is not a location one can sleep in a van at, but a lovely spot to stop… stretch the legs and enjoy the views for a little while. It was a rather windy day back in June and the water was choppy as you can see in the photos. Still a wonderful day to explore a bit.
Come walk with me around it and take in the views…
With this post I’m joining in at the Wednesday Walk #challenge. That is hosted by @tattoodjay every week on Wednesday.

More information about Lake Vättern you find here: Lake Vättern!
Shall we have a walk around this cute harbour now to explore it all?
Ok, let’s go…
Wandering towards the harbour we see a few little boats.
Walking on the left side of it and looking back we see a little red boat house and for the observant one, my little van 🚐
There was further nobody around, the parking area was empty as you can see.
We see a rescue 🛟 on the side, easily accessible in case of emergency.
On the little land part that sticks out into the lake we have some wonderful views around.
I love the dark blue colours / hues of the water… such a contrast with the lighter sky. Don't you think?
On the side of the harbour there is this long docking /mooring station. The red buys are bobbling away with the waves 🌊 up and down.
A view back to the little boat house again.
The sun wants to break through the clouds making the clouds stand out so much in this moment. Beautiful and dramatic at the same time…
In the grass next to our feet we see some really tiny yellow flowers. I take a photo of them to remember.
A long wooden post is perched up on this large rock. Weathered by the seasons.
Let’s walk towards the little boat house.
On the side wall we find this sign:
We can read on it the following information in english;
”Welcome to Lake Vättern
Not the largest nor the deepest, yet Lake Vättern could be the most unique lake in Sweden. With its clear, cold and nutrient-poor water the flora and fauna consist mainly of species usually found in northern Sweden. Several of which have been here since the ice age.
Lake Vattern's unique aquatic environments and rare species have gained international recognition and are part of the so-called Natura 2000 network. This means that several habitats and species in the lake are particularly valuable from a European perspective.
Fishing regulations and fishing supervision
The fish population in lake Vättern is protected, therefore there are fishing regulations to ensure the long-term well-being of the ecosystem. All fishing regulations are available at svenskafiskeregler.se
Safety and well-being
The weather on lake Vattern can change rapidly, make sure to always wear a life jacket and keep distress signals and safety equipment on board.
Sustainable fishing
In Lake Vattern, fish and nature are managed in balance with the limitations set by nature. By using the resource without consuming it, future generations will also be able to enjoy Vattern's unique animal and plant life. In the management of Lake Vattern's fish and fisheries, the cooperation between authorities, researchers and fishing stakeholders plays an important role.”
Another little hut a bit further away… under the trees. Is the last thing we look at before we continued our journey far far north last June.
…and here I say that’s all for today’s post my friends.
Join me next time for more updates, adventures, #stories and photographs.
Even my own artworks, once in a while, will come by.
Thank you so much for looking, and reading.
