Well I lost my older dog recently to old age. So it's been a bit of a sad time. I have been a walk along one of the local canals for a bit of sight seeing. It was quite an overcast day which matched my mood to be honest.
Further down the canal was a lock and some moorings. Some people live on these boats all year round. Many of the boats as we walked past had wood burners on with smoked coming out of their chimneys. Some boats were hooked up to mains electric. What suprised me was the difference in boats.Many different styles, some were very well looked after and others looked like they were ready to sink !
Here is the lock house. We stopped to watch this boat owner go through the lock. Apparently a Gongoozler is an informal nickname, referring to someone who enjoys watching activities on the canal, particularly at locks. Well you learn something everyday. The gentlemen with the canal boat was on his way to his GP appointment, which was in 2 days time !

There is a bridge to cross over the aquaduct and locals have left padlocks on the mesh. I have no idea why

Ive really enjoyed walking the local canals. I think ill be doing more of it.
