Hi
Good morning everyone I hope you have a lovely Sunday !
Sometimes I walk other peoples dogs with my dog. It was just Zena this morning so my phone was in my pocket. If I had been walking some other dogs, I would usually have got my phone out ready to film. So I missed filming or photographing the initial encounter. Sods law I guess
Whilst out on a walk this morning a young fox cub and decided to come out behind Zena my boxer dog and started to stalk her. It had not seen me in the distance. It was doing a good job but at some point Zena realised she was being followed.
Zena turned round and was face to face with the tiny fox cub. At this point the cub doubled down on its error and started to growl and snap at Zena !
For me Zena's response was perfect. She could have attacked it, or pinned it to the floor or 'boxed it' round the head with her paw. Instead she gave the fox cub an almighty growl. This is why I love boxers. The original American boxer club standard states 'Although his strength and agility enable him to compete against any assailant, he is never a bully'. This perfectly describes my dog.
At this point the cub realises it has made a BIG mistake. It panics, it is frightened and it tries to hide. Luckily for the cub Zena just wants a sniff. Its at this point I manage to catch up and take some photos.
No cubs or boxer dogs were hurt, but hopefully the cubs learnt and important lesson. I hope you enjoy the photos ! What makes me smile is how innocent it looks in the photos.
