The next band I photographed at Kiel Week was Pentastone, a group I hadn’t heard of before but whose stage show immediately caught my attention. They are a rock-metal band formed in 2015 and have already racked up a solid number of live performances. After the festival I went back and listened to more of their music, and my favourite track so far is “Unholy.” I’ve linked a Spotify playlist below so you can dive in too, and I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
Pentastone - Spotify Playlist
You can already see from the photos that their performance is both unique and deeply moving. The lead singer Lou, Luisa Knauss, truly lives her songs and you can feel every emotion she pours into the stage. It was a blast to capture because there was always something happening and every time I glanced away the scene had shifted once again. Absolutely incredible!
While I was editing the photos, I noticed Lou’s Linkin Park tattoo on her left thigh... the band’s logo framed by angel wings. Seeing it instantly took me back and reminded me of Chester Bennington and all the emotions his music carried. It also got me thinking about Linkin Park’s current lineup with Emily Armstrong. I’d love to catch them live someday to see how she brings her own energy to those classic songs. The way music connects us across time never ceases to amaze me.
