Greetigns, Fellow Birdspotters and Feathercounters!
It feels like Spring! From...time...to time. Very confusing, indeed. We're almost in the middle of April and there are still fits of cold and nasty weather with some cyclones cycling their way around the globe...And the birds seem not to know what to do.
Usually, this time of the year, they are in their third or fourth week here, already nested and busy making little birds.
But storks are not to be seen en masse as usual. I have seen a couple of couples in their nests but no great flocks in the fields. Well, that might be due to pesticides, who knows. But weather is also disturbing. I saw pictures of storks nesting under fresh snowfall. Not too happy about it, I would guess.
And swallows...I have not seen them this year, yet. The photographs are from their pre-migration gathering at the beginning of last September. Going away, yes. Coming back...perhaps soon. Who knows. They might have all been eaten by crocodiles down the Nile.
I don't think so, though. It must be macro factors.
