Weekends are days of outdoor adventures, days to go in search of the unknown, days to get some fresh air and fill ourselves with that wonderful energy that only nature knows how to give us.
With that intention we got in the car and left yesterday to Lake Epecuen located about 200 kilometers from my city, which takes about 2 hours and a half to get there.
Although I had visited the destination once before, this time I went with the intention of taking my family to visit this place that has a great story behind it, which I will surely tell you in another of my publications.
As soon as we arrived at the lagoon and to our surprise, we found a large colony of flamingos feeding on its shores. Talking to the locals, they told us that since some time ago, since the water recovered its properties, the flamingos have returned to this wonderful lagoon that little by little is recovering all the splendor that characterized it until before 1986.
Without waiting too long and before my youngest girl scared all the birds away I took my Nikon P900 camera and got ready to take some shots.
I had never seen so many flamingos together. The difference in color of some of the birds caught our attention and my daughter, who had been visiting the wetland in the port of our city with her school, told us that it was due to their age.
The gray ones, or rather the ones that lacked the pink color, were the smallest and the pink ones were the adults. While I knew that the coloration of the feathers is due to their diet, I did not know that the difference in color was related to age.
Nature is wonderful, it is admirable and without a doubt we have a lot to learn from it. Visiting such quiet places, with so much peace and so much connection with the environment has filled us with great energy.
I am happy to have been able to take my daughters to a new place, where they were able to observe many new things and enjoy a nice family outing.
At sunset, before returning home, a huge flock of flamingos gave us a beautiful postcard, when a large flock of them flew very close to us with the typical "V" formation that I had seen so many times in documentaries. Truly a golden brooch to end a beautiful day of adventures.
I leave you a big hug!
