We are expecting a hot 36C at the peak today and it's already hot early morning.
So come and put your feet in this pond and let's take photos of the residents.
Way too hot to go to the beach and too many people at the river, so the only alternative was a pond on a farm. Staying hydrated on these hot days is essential and we have a cooler box with 2 six packs of bottled water to carry us through the period outside. My wife is plastered with anti-sunburn lotion and I have a wide brimmed hat to cover my face and my neck.
But oh, that wonderful feeling when you sink your feet into the cold water of the pond is really one of the best feelings in the world.
Anyway, I talk too much and let's see who lives in this pond.
Hello!. Your feet look funny as they don't have flippers like mine said the frog as he saw my feet in the pond.
Nope, he didn't trust me as he thought that maybe I would catch and eat him.
Not very clever, is he? He thought that he was hidden, as peeped at me from under the rim of a plant leaf.
A nice blue dragonfly took up a seat on a plant stem and he is obviously of the Dropwing range of species.
A real handsome fella this one.
But then again, the Red-veined dragonflies are just as beautiful.
Remember the mating pair of dragonflies that I showed here in the first photo?
Well unexpectedly a red dropped in to peep at them.
I love the color contrast of the dragonflies in the mix of nature's colors.
Finally, how does this grab you? The dark of the pond edge, yellow of the plant leaf and the red of the dragonfly. All enhanced by the sunlight.
Mother nature's own paintings on show in this post and she is the best artist that I have the pleasure to know. I can sit or stand for hours just drinking in the colors with my eyes. Ever changing depending on the weather conditions and on a clear hot day the best of them all.
We simply do not know how blessed we are as the human race with all of the beautiful colors that surround our daily lives. Another blessing is that we can even plant the colors that we like in our own gardens.
Whenever I feel down, nature is my helper, as I simply go out to spend some time between all of the colors. A clear blue sky forms a perfect backdrop for the kaleidoscope of colors below.
Give me land lots of land and wide-open spaces, don't fence me in are the lyrics of an old song and that's exactly my style.
So, we have come to the end of my second post of the new year, and I hope that you enjoyed it. Life goes on and all of the best to everyone on Hive!
And That's All Friends.
