The Legends of Lake Ochiul Beiului
At the basis of the formation of this unique lake there are some legends that the surrounding people keep with holiness for those curious who cross their threshold.
One of the legends says that a beautiful girl from these places would have been kidnapped and dishonored by a young Turk drinking in the Ottoman Empire. But the girl managed to escape the young man's hands and took his days. By bitterness the beige would cry so much that his tears turned into a lake. That's how the Eye of Bei was born.
Another legend says that these places were under the rush of a harsh passage that had a boy of rare beauty with bright blue eyes. The boy often went hunting around and one day he noticed the daughter of a Wallachian shepherd, whom she would fall in love with. This did not please his father, and he ordered the girl to be killed.
When the young man learned of his father's deed, he cried at the girl's head, but in vain. The boy chose to take his life, and as a result of his sacrifice, from his tears and suffering, the Eye of Bei was born, with blue water like the eyes of the boy.
