Hello hive friends, I hope everyone is doing well. Today I bring you some photos that I managed to capture while I was watering the bushes in the yard. It turns out that in the Icaco bush I saw this caterpillar that I had not seen before, quite thick with some very striking colors, it had black, fluorescent apple green and red, but the strangest thing it had were some very long hairs and some small ones that were red.

There are always all kinds of insects in the house because we have a lot of bushes and there are always caterpillars, but usually the thick green ones, although many times we have seen black ones, and some also with a kind of hair similar to tarantulas, but this one has short ones and some very long ones that even look like human hair.

It is a very pretty caterpillar but I figured it was dangerous because of the colors and its strange shape so after taking the pictures I put it on a branch carefully and put it in a tree outside my house and when I finished watering the bushes I looked up what kind of caterpillar it was so I wouldn't be curious and it is a butterfly caterpillar called fire creatures, because those little hairs that you see have a venom that causes a burning that according to what I read is similar to what you feel with a thermal burn and also leaves red spots on the skin so if you see it do not touch it.

I saw that there were other species completely covered with long hairs and anyone can grab them by mistake because they do not look anything like an insect and as we can see nature is always surprising both for the variety of species and also for their defense mechanisms and to attract prey.

Hola amigos de Hive, espero que todos se encuentren muy bien. Hoy les traigo unas fotos que logré capturar mientras regaba las matas del patio. Resulta que en la mata de Icaco vi esta oruga que no había visto antes, bastante gruesa con unos colores bien llamativos, tenía negro, verde manzana fluorescente y rojo, pero lo más extraño que tenía eran unos pelos bastante largos y unos pequeños que eran de color rojo.

En la casa siempre hay de todo tipo de insectos porque tenemos muchas matas y siempre hay orugas pero normalmente de las verdes gruesas aunque muchas veces hemos visto unas negras, y algunas también con una especie de pelo parecido a las tarántulas pero esta tiene de esos cortos y unos muy largos que hasta parecen el cabello de los seres humanos.

Es una oruga muy bonita pero me imaginé que peligrosa por los colores y su forma extraña entonces después de tomarle las fotos la puse en una rama con cuidado y la puse en un árbol fuera de mi casa y cuando terminé de regar las matas busqué que tipo de oruga era para no quedarme con la curiosidad y es una oruga de mariposas que se llama criaturas de fuego, porque esos pelitos que ustedes ven tienen un veneno que causa un ardor que según lo que leí es parecido a lo que se siente con una quemadura térmica y además deja unas manchas rojas en la piel así que si la ven no las vayan a tocar.

Vi que habían otras especies cubiertas completamente de pelos largos y cualquiera las puede agarrar por error porque no parecen en nada a un insecto y como podemos ver la naturaleza siempre sorprende tanto por la variedad de especies que hay y también por sus mecanismos de defensa y para atraer presas.

Espero que las fotos de esta "Megalopyge Lanata" o criaturas de fuego les hayan gustado. Las tomé con mi celular Redmi 9.
