The Postoffice Bridge is one of my favorite bridges. This pedestrian bridge hangs on chains above the Moika River. If you walk together and step in step, the bridge starts to swing under your feet. I like it very much, although I know people who in such situations are frightened, grab the railing and stop in the middle of the bridge instead of crossing the other side as soon as possible.
This bridge is the only real chain bridge in St. Petersburg. There are several bridges with chains as decorative elements, or where chains became decorative elements after the bridge construction was changed. Chains are an important structural element only in this bridge.
I took these photos at the very beginning of a long summer sunset in St. Petersburg. I left some pictures in color to show sunset paints. Other photos I switched to black and white mode to emphasize the beauty of the bridge construction rhythm.
