Aachen is the westernmost city in Germany and has a lot of history dating back even before the Viking ages. It's very close to the both the Belgium border as the border with the Netherlands. With it's historic streets and big cathedral dating back to the middle ages it's a city that's popular among local tourists. It's a great place to stay for the weekend while going for a bike or hike weekend in the nearby national parks in Belgium and Germany.
I stayed in Aachen while I was on a weekend trip to Belgium to explore it's natural parks and nature. While exploring the city a big thunderstorm hit the area. I found shelter in a local restaurant. After I finished my food I saw the storm had passed and the sky began to show amazing colors. I quickly left and took some photographs of the wet streets during the blue-hour.
Cheers,
Thijs
