Second thunderstorm this month
There's a shift in temperature, although my daughter still says a long pants is "way too hot!" haha. This weekend it was really noticeable that the temperature dropped, especially at night. Now don't get me wrong because often it just means that it cools off for a few days and when the clouds disappear, the sun appears in full glory and it suddenly feels like spring all over. But in the past weeks, the so called "false promises" of rain as we always jokingly call them, weren't false promises at all!
In fact, I had to be careful not to leave any windows open because of the strong wind blowing through the house. For us this is the first time that we see the thunderstorms and lightning from this apartment on a high floor. To me this is not fully unknown because I live on a high apartment floor most of my childhood but there I had city view, not ocean and mountain view as we have here. The view here is definitely breath-taking and much better than where I grew up.
Phone snap shots
My brand new camera was still underway when these first storms this month happened and I decided that with my shitty phone camera I should try to record it rather than snapping unclear pic after pic. Great choice, even though I had to wait close to 1,5 minutes before another lightning struck above the sea, I managed to capture a very bright one.
As you can see in the rest of the picture, the houses are blurry but I was mainly interested in sharing the lightning anyway, I was happy that I could pull three screenshots out of the video because damn, what a view, right?
Tonight it's another storm
And now I have a good camera but I'm not at the point yet where I can snap some lightning to be honest. On top of that, I was happy that after a few attempts (I'm stubborn and hoping for a miracle lol) I put the camera back in the bag to continue watching tv because then a thunder hit so hard that I jumped up from the couch from shock of the sound.
I'm not unknown to these sounds but it seems to hit extra hard here up high at the coast, lol. I was grateful to sit on the couch instead of stand on the balcony with the camera in my hand. I bought a shoulder strap because it was not included in the sale, but sadly I overlooked how it's connected to the camera and had to return it, boohoo. Oh well, at least I have a camera bag but that won't help me from letting it slide from my hands when I jump up from these thunder sounds. Better safe than sorry, I'm not risking that it slips from my hands for a possibly (probably not) great shot.
Today it's constantly lid in the sky
For hours now, the sky has been taking pictures of us constantly, there's some thunder in the back but after that one big boom, not much sound happened, just light. They are taking pictures of us tonight for sure, lol. Right now it's slowly calming down and it seems to be less light, although I was hoping to shoot another short video to have some new lightning shots to share another day, it seems that I have to do it with those from a few weeks back.
Considering the fact that they are from my phone and blurry in mostly all the night shots, I think that lightning parts are quite ok and worth sharing. But yeah, hopefully a few storms from now (hopefully not too soon though, I prefer good weather, haha) I will be able to capture that with my Sony camera instead.
Do you like thunderstorms? Or do you hate it maybe? Why? I personally don't love them, I love the view but I hate being awake from the thunder and lightning at night. It seems that this time I'm going to be able to sleep, unless the storm returns at night that is.
Let's try and see if I can fall asleep :)
