Good Day guys!
Uiuiui - I'm eyeing on a new camera again and the search is harder than ever. In mid 2018 I changed from my old Nikon D7000 to my first full frame camera the Nikon D750 which really is an incredible camera. I bought the camera back then (NEW) for around 1.300$ which is an extremely good price for what you get (U can currently find it for about 1.100$).
I pretty much only used it with my Tamron 24-70mm 2.8 lens. It's just super useful in almost all different situations - Just a perfect all rounder lens. The second lens I own is an Nikkor 85mm 1.8 which is really good for Street Photography (especially in low light situations). And the third lens is my good ol' Tamron 90mm 2.8 Macro lens.
As I want to develop my photography further (Astro, Landscape, LE Photography) I recently was looking a lot for a Ultra Wide Lens and I had 3x pretty solid candidates as an option:
- Tamron 15-30mm F2.8
- Sigma Art 14-24mm 2.8
- Nikkor 12-24mm 2.8
3 absolute incredible lenses which range between 1,200 - 1,500 USD. Good glass can be very expensive "We all know that".
So I kept researching for weeks/months and I somehow ended up on reviews for mirrorless cameras. Especiall the Nikon Z7 which is pretty much the Nikon d850 in a way smaller body.

And now the real problems start. Both, the Z7 and the D850 are currently on sale for roughly 2.400$ which is quite a fair price in my opinion. After watching 100s of videos, reading pretty much every blog/review about both cameras I probably will end up buying the Z7 (Or wait for the Z7s? Z8?) which would pretty much satisfy all the needs I have for a camera.
Beside the technical advantages on the Z7 compared to my D750 there is also the fact that DSLR's as we know them today might die out in a couple of years and Mirrorless cameras will fully takeover the market. So there is a big factor about buying new glass for the old F mount or the newer Z mount for the Nikon Z7.
I'm now thinking about selling my 3x lenses, the D750 & D7000 Body, my ND filters and some older APS-C lenses (2x). Selling it on ebay would roughly bring me 2.000$.
What I would have to purchase new (everything):
- Z7 - 2400$
- Nikkor Z 24-70mm F2.8 - 2000$
- Nikkor Z 14-30mm F4 - 1500$ (Or wait for another option)
- Tripod - 500$
And later on maybe 1x Portrait lens (35 or 50mm 1.4/1.8) and the 70-200mm 2.8 - 😵
So the transfer to the Z7 with the tripod and 2 lenses would cost me (after selling the old stuff) roughly 4,400$ which really is a lot of money but I think it might be necessary doing this switch better early than late.
I would love to hear some feedback from you guys - what do you think about mirrorless cameras? How will you handle it?
Thanks for reading! :))
Hope you guy's have a great day!
Best,
Chris
