Good afternoon, beautiful Rising Star community. I'm going to write a story for the R219 DJ Gumbo card.
DJ Gumbo

DJ Gumbo was born in Caracas, Venezuela. His parents were well off financially. DJ Gumbo was their only child. Thankfully, DJ Gumbo lacked nothing materially, and his parents gave him lots of love. We could say he was a lucky child whose every whim was granted.
As a child, he dreamed of being the lead singer of a famous rock band that would tour the world and achieve worldwide fame.
His mother believed her son would be an artist. DJ Gumbo, in addition to playing like any other child, spent all day drawing. He also enjoyed dressing up, especially at school events. His father, on the other hand, believed he would follow in her footsteps and become a great businessman, continuing the family legacy.
As a teenager, he began playing rugby. First, he played with his neighborhood friends and then went on to play in the lower divisions of a major club. At that time, everything seemed to indicate he would become an athlete. The parents didn't like this, but they supported him.

Venezuela's economic situation became more complicated, and political changes took place. His government took a left turn.
DJ Gumbo began learning to play the guitar. He also tried his hand at composing songs.
Venezuela's leftist government became more radical and began punishing business owners. DJ Gumbo's family began to suffer the consequences of the regime changes.
DJ Gumbo's father's businesses were expropriated one by one. Then they imprisoned DJ Gumbo and threatened him with money.
Things got so bad that DJ Gumbo found himself living in poverty.
When they finished fleecing DJ Gumbo's father, the prison gates were opened. His father was released. DJ Gumbo's entire family emigrated to the US. His father was terrified of being imprisoned again.

Things weren't easy for the family in the US. DJ Gumbo's parents spoke English. The hardest part for them was working. His father started working as a construction worker. His mother babysat for children and cleaned houses by the hour. DJ Gumbo had to learn the language. Over time, he began working alongside his father for the same company.
DJ Gumbo's father managed to start his own business as a construction contractor and, with great effort, managed to grow the company. In a short time, his wife was able to stop working, and they were able to return to the standard of living they had before all the problems.

DJ Gumbo was happy learning guitar. He dreamed of a future in the music world. But his dream of playing professional rugby backfired. In a rugby game, he suffered a spinal injury that left him in a wheelchair for the rest of his life.
He went on a radio station, where they interviewed him and he told his story. He loved radio. He liked it so much that he began studying broadcasting.
DJ Gumbo fell into depression and struggled with alcoholism.
His parents didn't let him fall completely and helped him. DJ Gumbo underwent psychological treatment and joined a therapeutic community for alcoholics. It took him a long time to overcome his alcoholism, but he did.
He finished his studies as a broadcaster. He found work at an FM radio station as a radio host. He had his own music show where he played songs, reported music news, and interviewed artists. That's how DJ Gumbo entered the music world.

DJ Gumbo nació en Caracas, Venezuela. Sus padres tenían una buena situación económica. DJ Gumbo era su único hijo. Gracias a Dios, a DJ Gumbo no le faltaba nada material y sus padres le daban mucho amor. Podriamos decir que era un niño afortunado al cual le cumplían todos los caprichos.
Cuando era niño soñaba con ser cantane de una famosa banda de rock que recorriera el mundo logrando la fama mundial.
Su madre creía que su hijo iba a ser artista. DJ Gumbo además de jugar como todo niño se la pasaba todo el día dibujando. Además, le gustaba disfrazarse especialmente en los actos de la escuela. Su padre en cambio, creía que seguiría sus pasos y que sería un gran empresario continuando con el legado familiar.
En la adolescencia empezó a jugar Rugby. Primero jugo con sus amigos del barrio y luego fue a jugar a las divisiones inferiores de un club importante. En ese momento todo hacía parecer que sería deportista. Esto no le gustaba a los padres pero lo apoyaban.

La situación económica de Venezuela se complicó y se produjeron cambios políticos en Venezuela. Su gobierno dio un giro a la izquierda.
DJ Gumbo empezó a aprender a tocar la guitarra. También trataba de componer canciones.
El gobierno de izquierda de Venezuela se radicalizó y empezó a castigar a los empresarios. La familia de DJ Gumbo empezó a sufrir las consecuencias de los cambios del régimen.
Al padre de DJ Gumbo le fueron expropiando las empresas una a una. Después encarcelaron al padre de DJ Gumbo y lo amenazaron para sacarle dinero.
Las cosas empeoraron tanto que DJ Gumbo conoció la pobreza.
Cuando terminaron de desplumar al padre de DJ Gumbo, se abrieron las puertas de la prision. Su padre fue liberado. La familia entera de DJ gumbo emigró a EEUU. El padre tenía terror de que lo volvieran a encarcelar.

En los EEUU las cosas no fueron fáciles para la familia. Los padres de DJ Gumbo hablaban inglés. Para ellos lo más difícil fue trabajar. El padre comenzó a trabajar como empleado de la costrucció. La madre cuidaba niños y limpiaba casas por hora. DJ Gumbo tuvo que aprender el idioma. Con el paso del tiempo comenzó a trabajar junto a su padre para la misma empresa.
El padre de DJ Gumbo logró crear su propia empresa como contratista de la construcción y logró con mucho esfuerzo hacer crecer la empresa. En poco tiempo su esposa pudo dejar de trabajar y lograron alzanzar un nivel de vida como el que tenían antes de todos los problemas.

DJ Gumbo estaba contento aprendiendo guitarra. Soñaba con un futuro en el mundo de la música. Pero sus sueño de jugar profesionalmente rugby le jugo una mala pasada. En un juego de rugby sufrió una lesión en la columna que lo dejó en silla de ruedas para el resto de su vida.
Fue a una radio, donde lo entrevistaron y conto su historia. Le encantó la radio. Tanto le gustó que empezó a estudiar locución.
DJ Gumbo cayó en una depresión y tuvo problemas de alcoholismo.
Sus padres no lo dejaron terminar de caer y lo ayudaron. DJ Gumbo realizó un tratamiento psicologico y se unio a una comunidad terapéutica para alcoholicos. Le llevo un buen tiempo superar el problema del alcoholismo, pero lo logró.
Termino sus estudios como locutor. Encontró trabajo en una radio FM como locutor. Tuvo su propio programa de música donde pasaba canciones, daba noticias musucales y entrevistaba artistas. Esa fue la forma en la que DJ Gumbo se insertó en el mundo de la música.
