Rising Star - My Daily song choice, Daily Rising Star statistics and giveaway of 150,000 starbits - Sonánbulos: Valentin y los Volcanes

In this space I will be giving away STARBITS, sharing my experience with a song, telling how I discovered it, and providing interesting information about it. Then I will include several tables with statistics of the Rising Star game.

Starting in May, I started to create a playlist to keep track of the last songs I commented on in my posts. It will be useful for me not to doubt if I had already talked about a song before or not. The last song is Black and Yellow of the artist Wiz Khalifa.

My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Sonánbulos of the band Valentin y los Volcanes.

For as long as I can remember, rock and roll was always playing in my house. Coincidentally, my mother's childhood and youth occurred during the height of this new genre, which was just beginning to become quite popular. In my house, there was never a shortage of iconic Argentine rock songs, such as those by Charly García or Gustavo Cerati.

It wasn't until my teens that I began to have a more direct contact with the genre when I downloaded Spotify. At that time, I remember there was a playlist created by the Spotify team that compiled quite a few Argentine rock hits. That's how I discovered bands like Los Piojos, Los Autenticos Decandentes, Attaque 77, and many more.

Four years ago, I became a complete fan of the genre, and in that time, I discovered many more songs and even alternative rock bands. In Argentina, rock remains a very popular genre, so there's never a shortage of new bands with unusual names, even today. Some examples include Él Mató a un Policía Motorizado (He Killed a Motorcycle Policeman), Los Fundamentalistas del Aire Acondicionado (The Air Conditioning Fundamentalists), or, as in today's post, Valentín y Los Volcanes (Valentine and the Volcanoes).

My first contact with this alternative rock band was about five years ago, while listening to a Spotify playlist of national rock featuring alternative artists. That's how I discovered several bands with unusual names, like Perras on the Beach. But if there was one that really caught my attention, it was Valentín y Los Volcanes, with their song "Sonámbulos."

A few months later, when I found that song in my "Likes," I decided to look up the band and see what their most famous songs were. I listened to one of their latest albums, called Todos los sabados del mundo (All Saturdays of the World), which was released in 2019 and featured some great songs like 1000000 Reflejos (1000000 Reflejos), Pequeña Napoleon (Little Napoleon), Los Chicos de Orense (The Boys from Orense), and Si Ud Fuera la muerte (If You Were Death).
