The biggest challenge facing Play To Earn games is token inflation.
People expect to earn more as they progress in a game and so inflation is a necessary evil that has to be managed somehow.
In a games early days there are usually enough new players coming in to soak up this inflation as we saw during our first year or so. We also happened to be in the middle of a bull market so there was plenty of new crypto being spent!
However during a bear market like the one we have been experiencing for a long time now new players dry up and things start to escalate.
We weren't sure whether things would be OK as players who got despondent with the bear market would stop playing and this would reduce or at least stabilise the inflation.
Unfortunately this has not happened.
We introduced STARPRO and Music Promoter to try and help with inflation and we have continued to add new features that require STARPRO.
Now it is time for quite a big one:
Paying For Music Lessons
From now on if the skill reward you get from a lesson is 100 or over you will need to pay a fee in STARPRO for the lesson.
The amount you pay is based on a number of factors including the STARBITS and STARPRO prices and we may adjust this going forward once we see what effect it has.
We have also made the skill reward a single number rather than a range.
Music Promoter - More Decimal Places
We have increased the number of decimal places on the STARPRO earned in Music Promoter so now promoting a very small number of missions will get you a little STAPRO that you can use for your lessons.
So if you don't want to go to the trouble of buying STARPRO on Hive Engine and depositing it in game you can simply burn some of your in-game STARBITS to get the STARPRO for your lessons.
Deposit Smaller Amounts of STARPRO
You can now deposit as small as 0.01 STARPRO
Increase In Rewards
As we have talked about many times our goal has been to make Rising Star a self-sustaining game where the rewards that we pay out come from ever growing reward pools. This has been going well and we can now start to slowly increase the rewards for the rankings and later on Raves too.
Today we have increased the Rankings rewards by 10% to 11 SWAP.HIVE a day. It's not much but it's sustainable and we will continue to increase it when we can.
In Closing
We know everyone hates to see changes to what they can earn but I hope you will agree that something needed to be done for the future sustainability of the game.
We will give this change some time and then reevaluate things again to see if anything needs to be adjusted.
By making these changes now we will put Rising Star in a stronger position as we go into the next bull market.
