In the last few years here in New Zealand the weed scene has gone sharply downhill, with a failed 2020 referendum on legalization and a plague of 'PGR' (Plant Growth Regulators) in our weed.
We used to have a lot of nice outdoor weed to supply the country, being grown in the north of the country where we have a great climate for growing weed. Due to things like police helicopters flying around and ripping up plantations (which they have stopped doing this year thankfully), and more access to equipment and information for growing indoors much of the supply shifted to indoor weed grown by local gangs/and later with the involvement of international gangs from Australia and Asia.
These days they are using heavy doses of 'PGR' (Plant Growth Regulators) chemicals which make the plants mature faster, and produce hard, dense buds covered in an unnatural amount of orange pistils with very little trichromes, no smell and no good buzz. A lot of the weed available to us now looks like this:
and here is a short video from an Australian (not my video) which shows exactly what I am talking about:
Apparently this stuff is also very unhealthy, yet many people do not know any better and are smoking this stuff anyway. Don't get me wrong, there is still some great indoor and outdoor weed around grown by people who actually care but it's not enough to supply the demand which is why the gangs are able to sell a lot of this trash.
Is this stuff a problem in other parts of the world? I know it has been a problem in Australia, and I think it probably came here from the Aussie gangs coming over and sharing their tricks.
Tonight I'm smoking some badly trimmed outdoor but it's much better than that PGR trash
