I surrender is one of my favorite hymns. Because it always reminds me of the day I surrendered all to Jesus. I was once into many things that are inhuman, but since I noticed that there's a place prepared for us after this life, and it's either you go to the right place or you go to where there's everlasting torment. And I was convinced, and I completely surrendered to Jesus, not religiously but from my heart. I gave Him my all.
This song is not just a normal song but is a song that if one sits and reminisces on the words of the song, it is not really an easy thing to do. It is just like the case of a man in the Bible that God asked to go and sacrifice his son, and the man had not been with a baby for a period of time, and when God blessed him, that same God was asking him to sacrifice the baby. I know some of us would look at the incident as if it were something you can easily do, but it is not as easy or soft a landing as we think. So that's the same way surrendering to Jesus looks like: giving your all, not withholding anything. But it is not easy at all. I want to make reference to the rich young ruler in the Bible who asked God how he could inherit the Kingdom of God, and he said he kept everything, but Jesus now asked the rich young ruler to go and sell everything he had and give the money to the poor and needy; immediately he was angry and upset, and he left. Such types of people have not surrendered completely to Jesus.
Thanks for going through my entry.
