Just one of those shower thought posts that's been brewing in my mind lately. Since the idea of having robots with built in AI like those futuristic sci-fi movies will become a norm a few decades from now is slowly becoming a reality, I'm thinking on enshrining my shower thought on this blockchain and then have an "I told you so" moment a few years from now. Provided that Hive is around and lets me view my old entries by then.
These are just my speculations on what the future could look like.
Robots will have a built in AI that already uses an advanced version of AI than what we have now.
The database used by AI to learn from just keeps growing and the applications build on top of these systems will be unlike what we've seen a few years from now. You know AI is used in military research and much of the modern life conveniences we have in tech had some ties to military applications before being available for civilian use like the internet.
The limitations of hardware memory can be remedied by recreating new memories from old memories close to a 99.9% on demand and delete the old memories to make room for new ones. This reduces the cost for purchasing new hardware to store information - maybe. This also enables robots to continue recording memories while having no trouble "recalling" past events which they can use to learn from. It might even start prompting itself to generate new ideas and develop new skills as needed for novel tasks.
Commercial versus personal AI robot assistants.
If you think modeling the robot like a human body is efficient, think again. Compared to a human with 2 arms, a robot with multiple arms doing simultaneous tasks without fail is much more efficient and ideal. This is why 2 categories of robots will be available, for industrial use and for personal use.
Commercial robots will have a variety of forms, from small bots barely perceptible to the eye up to massive structures and all powered by AI. These will lack any semblance to humans in anatomy as every part is designed to maximize efficiency to their intended use. These will be more expensive than the personal robots due to their potential to boost economic productivity.
On the other hand, personal robots will have limited functions and are expected to cater to civilian needs. These will be the same robots you see in films that look like human but having uncanny features to almost indistinguishable to humans. Because their anatomy is based on humans, these are not well equipped to do tasks as good as robots meant for industrial use. However, you can expect these would be much more intelligent, quicker, durable and stronger than your average human house helper.
The personal robots will often be available to most upper middle class and wealthy folks because of how expensive these units will be. Owning one is a social flex much like how you have the latest Apple product released per year. The closest thing the middle class and poor to access this tech will be those public service robots you can encounter in the terminals, government offices and business offices.
Commercial, personal and the "third category"
I thought about sports betting and realized the potential of the sports industry to create more events based on robotic competitions. These set of robots would have features in between the industrial type and personal type as their hardware and software would only exist tailored for the sport.
The third category can be "specialized" in the sense that robots would have a mix of both properties from the previous categories. I think the military robots would fall under these categories. AI generative "art" will probably be under this category.
The advent of AI based human jobs
Since the tech is already out there and growing, some routine human work will eventually be replaced by AI but this offers a new branch for people to adapt to new jobs tailored to the use of AI. It's like how the introduction of cellular phones and internet created new forms of job while eliminating the old ones. People would have to adapt to new skills based on AI to survive.
