Hi fellow Hiveians,
Today I wanted to talk about how we sometimes make poor food choices and our bodies remind us for a while!

Interesting Indigestion Incident
I recently had a pretty long bout of indigestion! I don't claim to be any type of crazy health expert or nut but I do try to seriously watch my diet because we need to do what we can to protect our health and our bodies!
We do sometimes forget though that our bodies are not infallible hahaha. I experienced this one first hand for sure! Back over the summer, we were celebrating Independence Day aka The Fourth of July and we went to some family's house. They had a pretty nice cookout and there was certainly a lot of food on the tables. I decided to indulge myself in some of the wares and chose something that I knew was likely not going to end well, but I didn't realize how it would have a long-lasting negative effect on me!
My wife's uncle likes to make all kinds of food which is a good thing, because a guy that can cook for himself is important. There are too many who don't know how to cook and that's pretty sad if you ask me. This guy though does a pretty damn good job! What he was making on this day was one of his specialties. He marinates pork ribs in a few different sauces and one of those sauces being Ah-So sauce which I think is typically a Chinese style sauce they put on the Chinese pork ribs. I know I see it in the oriental aisle in the grocery stores.
It had been a really long time since I've eaten Ah-So sauce, and for good reason.. the ingredients on the stuff are freaking HORRIBLE LOL. They mask all the chemical shit with lots and lots of sugar, I think in the form of high fructose corn syrup which is even worse. The stuff was pretty tasty going down that's for sure so I was enjoying myself and I grabbed 4 or 5 of the ribs and ate them heartily. Things were going great! ..Until that evening.
Holy shit I had a killer stomach ache and thought that I had eaten tainted or spoiled meat and was dismayed at the thought. Nobody wants food poisoning especially if it comes from your family members lol. Luckily I didn't have food poisoning but what accompanied me was some of the worst heartburn I've experienced in my life!
I'm lucky in that I don't get heartburn but it goes back to eating a fairly decent diet, good vegetables and the meats I eat are often not processed and certainly not doused in crazy chemicals like a lot of the foods out there are. I immediately realized that the Ah-So sauce was the one that fucked me up. The Ah-So sauce contains something that pissed my stomach off and it wasn't the same for about 2 months after I ate that shit!
I was just thinking the other day that my stomach has thankfully seemed to have recovered since this issue happened but damn it was it uncomfortable to be in pain after eating some foods and having some intense indigestion. I certainly appreciate my pretty normal and healthy stomach a lot more now that the issue has gone away let me tell you lol. We tend to do that, us humans. We take advantage of our healthy body so much when we are living in it but when we run into issues we realize how good we have it and want to do what we can to get rid of the issue so we can go back to feeling "normal". This is quite the paradox! We want to feel normal so we can occasionally eat these unhealthy things but when we eat them and our body gets mad, we get all bent out of shape hahaha. The hypocrisy!
